Warning - Don't Waste a Dime on This!
Don't waste your money. The book has around 130 pages but it is printed in a very large font and about half is useless information, such as the dimensions of containers (pp. 79-89), which could be looked up online or put in a two page table, as well as completely useless stories and quotes and poems (Chapter 8, Quotes from Supporters and Other Resourceful Individuals, pp. 91-106). Contrary to the subtitle, there is not a single plan in the book. Also, it is poorly edited, with plenty of typos that any half decent spell checker could have detected. This is a guy who put together some common knowledge on container homes in a day, slapped a dapper title on it, published it via CreateSpace, and is now cheating people like you and me out of our hard earned money...

Not Anywhere Near An Ultimate Guide
There is nothing "ultimate" about this.128 pages of big, poorly formatted, type, without a single, solitary picture or diagram. The first couple chapters had some specific information about shipping container homes but most other content was curated by the author by quoting and relating others who had actual experience.Chapter 8 is entirely useless quoting completely nonsensical crap including a 9 page story about a girl talking to her elementary school teacher- I am not making this up!Chapter 9 (Recommendations)- provides such wisdom as to list cloth storage boxes, rust converter, hangers (2 pages), and temporary screens...(Both Chapters 8 and 9 are so useless as to make one think their only value is to make a minimum page count in order to get published.2 stars for the 25% of the information which was actually helpful, and although still in a grindingly horrible format, actually relevant to shipping container homes.

If looking for information on "How to Build", this ...
If looking for information on "How to Build", this is not the book. More on background, ideas, etc. "Shipping Container Small Steel Buildings" has more practical info on actual building.

Waste of time, buy the Container Atlas instead.
This book was terrible. Anthony Hofman must consider all of his readers children, as the book repeats obvious information over and over again. There are 0 pictures or diagrams, and the text has numerous errors including paragraphs that are repeated one after another. The cover is pixelated and the font size is massive. On top of all of this, he never states that he himself has attempted to build a shipping container home, and pulls most of the information in the book directly from websites..BUY THE CONTAINER ATLAS INSTEAD...

Amateurish Total Rip Off.
Amateurish attempt at cashing in on shipping container homes. The most badly written book I have ever read. Poorly written, vague, inconsistent, and repetitive. For an example of this just look at the back cover "If you want to build your own shipping container home while spending less amount of cash, then keep reading!". No plans, No drawings, No focus on Electrical or Plumbing. Just poorly written brush-offs telling you to "check your local regulations" etc. A complete waste of your time and money. Send this container out to sea and sink it.

Tons of information!
After watching 1000's of YouTube videos, checking out countless websites and numerous building plans along with looking at land, my head was swimming with too much unorganized information. I finally decided to get a book that had some basic information. This book helped give me better insight on what I need to look at beyond how my home shipping container home will be designed. Have much more clarity. I only wish that I had taken the time to write down the resources mentioned in the book because this book does not have a cheat listing all the various things needed at the various stages of building. But I think its definitely worth a second read and gives great insight into the do and don't of shipping container homes. Greatly appreciated!

Dont buy, even if I don't like you, DO NOT BUY THIS POOR EXCUSE OF A BOOK
Shallow overall, but a good start if you're interested and haven't looked into any basics yet. I found myself thinking, "I wish they had someone proofread this" every few pages. My favorite part is reading,"Do your research" and thinking "I thought I was in buying this. Clearly I still need to because you didn't do it for me in writing the book". Summary: it gives the impression it was written by someone who is trying to make a quick buck without putting the time and energy into it to provide depth.*Update* I'm contacting Amazon to return this. It's a disgrace of a book, and can't express enough how poorly it was written and the utter lack of depth and proofreading. For example, "This chart..." with no chart shown. Typos galore and more importantly it's horribly misleading in the title. There are no plans, and it can only be considered an ultimate guide on Opposite Day. I beg you, don't buy this even if you use a gift card. I wouldn't wish the reading experience on my worst enemies.

Not Ultimate, Misleading, No Graphics or plans, avoid.
These other reviews are definitely NOT for the Book that I received; maybe I got a book with the same cover but something different inside. I was looking forward to a decent book on Container homes BUT THIS IS NOT IT!!!!. I am never this critical about books I buy, and I buy many on many subjects, but this book is a special exception. There is nothing "Ultimate" about this book. It says its got plans but there are NONE; at least not the graphical kind. At one point there are pages and pages of container measurements, really? This books seems to be someone's notes or blog posts that got cobbled together and wrapped in a nice cover. The pictures (of any kind), diagrams (Of any kind), ONLY exist on the cover; there are none in the book. I appreciate that producing a book can be difficult but the content of this book is nearly completely vacuous. When I got this book, I went through it and within 30 minutes I was on Amazon's website getting a refund and return. Make your own decision about the book; it may be helpful to anyone who has never spent 20 minutes Googling container homes.

WASTE OF MONEY - TERRIBLE
This is absolutely the worst book I have ever read concerning alternative building and DIY projects. The contents to me seems as if it is a compilation of information from the internet with absolutely no personal experience of the author. The front page describes the contents of the book (to be honest that is why I purchased the book) but the contents is not there!!! No floor plans, no instructions how to connect containers, no information on condensation, NOTHING!! Really this book seems as if it was written by a grade school student as a project - that is how good it is. The author forgot to invest into proof reading of the contents, so at various points in the so called book you find the exactly same paragraph that was a page back etc. WASTE OF MONEY. Not going to spend any more time describing the uselessness of the book. TERRIBLE

Don't Waste your Money
Not nearly what I expected when I purchased this book. There were no plans, very little specific information that would be considered useful, and quite poorly written. There are far better books on the market, and I would suggest picking a different book than this one.
