The Canadian Ammolite Fossil shell stone is the star of this cuff bracelet. It is bezel set in fine silver. The cuff was hand fabricated from heavy gauge sterling silver wire. Spheres of sterling silver were soldered to the ends of the cuff to add a decorative touch. The sterling was oxidized to give it a pretty patina that shows off the orange/green flash of the stone. If you're not familiar with Ammolite, here is a brief description: "Ammolite is a trade name given to a thin iridescent aragonite shell material that is found on two species of extinct ammonite fossils (Placenticeras meeki and Placenticeras intercalare). Other less-frequently used trade names for Ammolite are "Calcenite" and "Korite." It is also known simply as "ammonite shell." Ammolite is a rare material. All of the world's commercial production comes from a small area along the St. Mary River in southwestern Alberta, Canada." Ammolite is fragile, so this stone has been stabilized to protect it, and allow it to be used in jewelry. The cuff measures 5 7/8" inside diameter, with a 1 1/4" opening. It is 1/4" in width. The stone setting is 1" in length, and 5/8" in width. Will fit a small to medium size wrist.
