It has a great power and the light comes on when it's going forward and the light is off when it goes backwards. Love, love this little well made train. Great price, too! The little hick up of the train is not the trains fault. The track was not linked up tightly. Great size, noise is rather soothing. Amazing traction and just fun for everyone. This little train engine is shockingly good for the price. It is solid and obviously well-made. And its motor is powerful. It can easily pull a dozen cars, even up inclines. The headlight is a charming touch. My 3-year-old grandson finds his wooden train tracks far more interesting to play with since we added this train engine to the set.
