A choppy series of shorter tales
A peculiar Lucky Luke volume, made up of one long (30 pp.) story adapted from the animated film of 1978 (and originally published in the small-format Dargaud 16/22 series), as well as three miscellaneous shorter ones scripted by Morris and Greg. (One story actually dates back as far back as 1955, with Luke's head redrawn to match his later and more definitive appearance ...) The 'Ballad' tale is choppy and not particularly funny, definitely not top-flight Goscinny; he scripted the film just before his death in 1977. And according to various websites, this story wasn't actually drawn by Morris himself but by a Dargaud house artist called Pascal Debère, though his style is remarkably close to that of Morris. The other three stories are pretty negligible. Despite its interesting idiosyncrasies, it has to be said that you could find many better volumes in this series!
