A: Yes it does stand on its own when on a flat surface. I purchased this to replace my bulky quad cane that never folded and it works very well. Pleased with mine

**Q: what is the maximum weight this cane will hold?**
A: Sorry to be so late with a response.   I have no idea if there is a maximum weight the cane will hold.  I really like my cane, ordered it because I had trouble finding a cane I liked that was short enough.  I'm very short and weight is not an issue.  It is very sturdy  and strong and easy to carry or hang because it is not heavy.

**Q: Can a replacement pivoting quadruple treaded base be purchased?**

I need a cane to help with fatigue and knee pain and after searching every walmart and shoppers drug mart I could for a cane that suits my needs, I gave up lol. However I was recommended this cane by a mobility aid advocate and it is perfect!! It's super lightweight so I don't feel tired carrying it around. It's super portable. The quad foot on it makes it really stable, which was super important to me since I use it to help me get up the stairs. So far it hasn't caused me any shoulder or wrist pain either, and it makes no noise when walking with it! I absolutely love it!
