A good unit to buy - Does what it claims and excellent support from OREI!
I bought this unit to make up for the shortcomings in both my TV (a 2022 model Samsung "The Frame" 55") and my Logitech Astro A50 X (has a 2-port HDMI 2.1 switch that is provably faulty, unfortunately). When I first received the BK-402A, it worked flawlessly with my Xbox Series X but not with my PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, the shipped firmward on my unit was not compatible/working with the PS5 and its strict HDCP 2.3 configuration. The unit refused to send a picture to my TV. Now comes what I think is the best part: OREI technical support. It is strictly via email but their team is responsive. There is a bit of a time lag but patience will bear positive results if you contact them. I explained my issue in detail, going so far as to buy a cheap-but-well-reviewed competitor switch (not matrix) device as well as replacing my HDMI 2.1 (UNCERTIFIED) cables with cables that have the HDMI.org certification tag on their packaging. With a full explanation provided, the OREI support team worked with their "technical team" and ultimately sent me a firmware upgrade that proved to be the solution! NOTE: The upgrade process does require a PC but is documented for easy processing As for the product itself: Metal casing = premium look-and-feel. Port options are plentiful. The 2-port output option might come in handy one day, which is why I opted for the matrix instead of a standard switch. (See OREI's excellent Youtube video that explains what an HDMI Splitter vs HDMI Switch vs HDMI Matrix are, if you aren't aware.) Thank you, OREI team for producing an excellent product and then also proving that you really do stand behind your products with excellent technical support. You have earned a return customer and I will be recommending your products to friends-and-family. :)

HDMI Switch used for Gaming Consoles, PC and Home Theater
Iโve been using the Orei BK402A HDMI Matrix Switch for about eight months now. After working through some initial setup challenges, I can confidently say this device performs wellโespecially if youโre running a mixed HDMI 2.0 / 2.1 setup like I am. My goal was to route my game consoles or PC either to my TV for audio/video or through my AVR while maintaining full 4K at 120Hz with HDR, VRR, and support for various surround sound formats. I reached out to Oreiโs support team several months ago and stayed in contact with them while troubleshooting. They were responsive, helpful, and genuinely committed to resolving the issue. That level of customer service is rare and significantly improved my overall impression of the company. In the end, the HDMI handshake issues were resolved through a combination of HDMI firmware updates, using specific HDMI ports, and dialing in the correct power-on sequence.

Durable. External power source making it possible to run a HDMI to VGA adapter off of an output.
4 years 5 months later this unit is still working great. Unlike the plastic cased models we bought earlier this has stood up under long hours of use. Bought this for a friend who does Karaoke and DJ hosting. Using it to duplicate HDMI second display for lyrics for singers and audience to view. I especially like that it has the red light next to the ports showing there is signal present. That makes trouble shooting display issues much easier. Our system goes like this => Laptop in extended mode w/ lyrics on display2 > OREI splitter > 1HDMI display and 1HDMI to VGA adapter > VGA display.

Good but the remote codes overlapped with other devices
Works well as advertised. I ran into an issue where some other infrared remotes in my environment had similar codes and was controlling this device unintentionally. This caused the settings to change randomly so it didn't work to well in my environment for that reason. Otherwise it would be a good device for me. Email support was reasonable with 24 hour response times normally.

Works good but DO NOT USE with the Nvidia Shield Pro (updated; read full comment)
I first purchased the Orie 22 (2x2 switcher). This 2x2 mirror output (non matrix) switch worked perfectly for me but I wanted more inputs and I didn't originally buy this because I really didn't need the matrix and I didn't need/want the eARC (because my Samsung 85" TV does the audio separation via its own eARC output hdmi). So I bit the bullet and figured I would just get the 4x2 with the extra features that I didn't need/ use.... Bad idea. With the extra feature of audio separation (even tho I didn't use it and it's always off... initially) came the interference with my Nvidia Shield Pro (2022 ver, & latest updates). So what happens is that when you go to lower the volume using your Shield Pro remote, it turns on the Orei's 4x2 eARC function, which blanks the picture for about 5 seconds... on every volume down press! The eARC on the unit is now "On" and you have to turn it off by the units button or the remotes button. The volume up on the Shield does not interfere nor any other Shield Pro remote IR callouts (depresses). Now "IF" you exclusively use your TV's remote to adjust the volume, you are okay. It's only when you use the Nvidia Shield Pro's remote for the volume down. Personally I don't want to have 2 remotes in my hand so sadly I am returning this 4x2 matrix switch. I have been in contact with the Mfgr. and there remedy was/is to tape off the IR sensor on the Orei unit.... this works!... but now you can't use the Orei's remote when you want to switch inputs/outputs, which is not frequent like the volume, but it still is a bummer that I have to lose this entire feature (so now I have no matrix switch remote). In communication with Orei, which they were very nice and responsive, they admitted their IR "eARC on" callout was colliding with the Nvidea Shield Pro's volume down button. I really was hoping they said they will do a firmware update or some real solution rather than saying "tape off the IR sensor on our unit". . I think this is would be a great product if one of your input devices does not collide IR, like my Xbox series X works great (which I believe is bluetooth anyways?). Solution wise: I'm going to try the FERRISA 8K 4X2 available here on Amazon. Note: in the Shield Forums (deep search) everyone mentions the Mercedes Benz of 4x2 switchers is the "AVPro Edge AC-MX-42X 8K". But as of this writing, Amazon does not have this, and, being the Mercedes... it's also $1200. not $170. ;) I will update this review with a solution for us Shield users who want to keep the remotes volume down function. ------------------- UPDATE: I've received the FERRISA 8K 4X2 and it does work fully with the Nvidia Shield Pro. There may be other 4x2 Matrix switches that fully function with the Shield, and, in contacting AVPro, their technical service dept said their model (mentioned above) does work and has been fully tested with the popular streaming device Nvidia Shield and Pro model. Amazon link to the Ferrisa: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6FCPG5Q?th=1 ----------------------- UPDATE: 06-27-25 ----------------------- The seller has responded and refunded me this 4x2 Matrix switch. Most importantly, they are going to look into a upcoming firmware update to correct the conflict with the Nvidia Shield Pro's (remote control) Volume Down button colliding with this products eARC on function/button. I wish this was prior news, but better late than never. This switch works GREAT!!!... other than the remote conflict mentioned. So this will be a 5 star review when that firmware update comes out. Any Shield users may want to contact them before purchasing this unit, hopefully they will document this update in the listing... as there are a lot of Nvidia Shield Pro users out there. :)

Iโve been finding a splitter for my streams since my monitor only has 1 HDMI port and this works amazing! I plugged in my ps 4 into the input and split the output to my monitor + laptop for OBS and it works amazing!!!
