Buy only from Panasonic's Amazon store front. *by D***N on May 30, 2025* The original Panasonic batteries in a two handset Panasonic cordless phone system lasted 7-8yrs before battery life in one of the two handsets became somewhat problematic. That handset was used almost daily for what I'd guess was 1-2 hours per day. The other less used handset still seemed to be working well. Regardless, I replaced the batteries in both. These are rated for 2000 charge cycles. If you read the fine print in some of the alternatives, far less. For example, the Amazon brand alternative is rated for 1000 charge cycles. Necessary to buy Panasonic brand rechargeables? No. Necessary to buy OEM car parts, name brand tools, etc? On a case by case basis, it depends. Other brands of rechargeables will work but if you do your research, I think most will find Panasonic batteries to be the 'engineer's choice'. The only caution I'd make is to buy *ONLY* from Panasonic's Amazon store front and shipped only from Amazon, not third parties. Or buy directly from Panasonic. Counterfeit batteries have been an issue in Amazon and for most consumers, virtually impossible to visually detect given the level of sophistication from a lot of counterfeiters.
