I see where someone stated the hair dryer comes with a 5-year warranty. I don't see that stated anywhere. Should I purchase the protection plan?

HI I did return the blow dryer, as it stopped working after 3 months via Amazon. I did not have the 5 year protection plan and did receive a refund. I then bought another dryer and have had zero problems with it. I am not much into buying warranties because they come with their own separate terms. I hope that helps (-;

I'm traveling to Scotland, can this be used with a power adapter?

I'm in South Korea and I use a power converter (not adapter). You have to make sure that whatever you use can handle the voltage/wattage. Voltage: 120V, 60Hz Watts: 1680 As I understand it, if you just use an adapter it will damage it since it will be getting 220V instead of 120V.

Does it have cool setting that stays, i.e. there is no need to hold down?

There is a button to press for a cool shot and 3 regular temperature settings
