The alternatives I've tried are some steel frame steps that always end up catching me in the shins and which are just clunky. Bruised and battered, I tried this.The biggest concerns for me were how flat this could fold and how much it could capably support. Pleased all around with a very solid polymer construction. It feels solid and comfortable with a full 180 lbs. on it. At its widest, this step is slightly over 1.5 inches (folded). Generous 13 inch reach helps me get to everything I need.Very pleased with the size and durability. Generous height for the light weight. Quality non-skid on the top surface and foot bottoms.
