Down to Earth All Natural Fertilizers Organic Shrimp Meal - Rich in Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Calcium 6-6-0, 2 lb

I bought this fertilizer because I read that shrimp meal was supposed to help control the nematodes that kill my okra plants every year. It's been about three weeks since I planted the okra, and I've never seen such healthy-looking okra in my life. It's a little soon for it to start bearing, but the plants are growing well and are a deep, healthy green. No bugs have bothered it so far, either. I also bought the Langbeinite fertilizer made by this company and added it to the soil during planting. I have every reason to hope that this crop of okra will do better than my first this year, which succumbed to the nematodes, but even if it doesn't control them, it's a great fertilizer. I plan to try it on my winter veggies, too. Update: It is now a couple months since I wrote the first part of this review, and you can see for yourself how gorgeous my okra is. I haven't had okra like this in years. It's not only surviving, it's thriving. Thanks, Down to Earth Organics for a fine product.

Great additive for top dressing. Makes plants stronger and improves resistance to disease, mold, mildew, bugs, etc. (chitin).

Bought this when I ran out, it worked good. Warning , cats, dogs, raccoons armadillos etc. all want to eat this so I store my stuff in metal garbage cans.

Got what I expected

I find this product to be very useful to use in fending off nematodes while also fertilizing. It does smell so I make sure I mix it in with the soil and let it sit a few days before planting anything. This is to avoid having pests like raccoons or opossums digging up what I planted. I’d rather they dig looking for the source of that delicious smell (to them) before I do my planting. I have bought this several times already and am satisfied with my purchase.

As far as I know, this is the only "only shrimp meal" fertilizer available. I use it on my tomatoes. It has chitin that helps plants fight with diseases, and the N-P ratios in it are more than good enough to feed the plants a long way. Shrimp meal is also high in Ca and Mg. I was really upset to see that this product is not available on Amazon anymore. I hope this is only the case temporarily.

Does the job, but Im assuming a cat or racoon liked the smell and dug up a few small spots in the garden

It's a bit on the expensive side, but this is a great nitrogen, phosphorous, chitin and calcium source for organic gardening. In addition to feeding your plants, a little sprinkle in your compost can really get it cooking.
