What rig would i need to use with a 5oz lead off the beach as new to it

These rigs are fine for a 5oz-6oz lead, however, make sure your main line is suitable for the lead weight, 12-18lb is good for casting with a shock leader, but use heavier line if going straight to rig/lead weight.

I use long black lug that also goes trough the hook and fishing line, will the plastic tube at the end of the hoop stop this? Thank you.

If big lug its ok to go over, but also you can pull the cover back with a bit if persuasion, i have done this a few times. I really like these rigs and they have become my go to. Also they do glow well as long as charged with head torch for a few seconds.
