It will work on PVC plastic but as far as I'm concerned Drill America has a better higher quality tap set that can be used for practically all metal products. **Q: what do you use for a handle?** A: 12 point socket and a tee handle. Check harbor freight **Q: Will this work for 1 " rigit conduit** A: No it works only on NPT threads. **Q: diameter of 1" tap?** A: Don't know dimension. Returned item because of poor quality.
