Wonderful product. Perfect length for tall and short individuals. It’s slightly loose, but it’s meant to be that way with because it’s used with stretching material to fit small and large individuals. It came smelling gross and the bag was dirty. It looked like the bag had dirt smears on it, and upon opening it, I could smell chemicals. Luckily they weren’t so fragrant that I couldn’t wear the hoop skirt. I suspect it’ll be just fine to wear without needing to wash. I honestly don’t know if you even can wash a hoop skirt. I suspect it’ll be just behind to wear without needing to wash. It might ruin the fabric and materials used. All in all great quality. Definitely a cheap and simple alternative.

This bustle cage is very comfortable, well made and easy to put on/take off. It will go great with several costumes I have: Marie Antoinette, a doll and queen. I feel like it will last for quite a few wearings and could be washed in a soak bucket with oxy clean if needed. Very happy with my purchase.

Before purchasing, I read many comments about the ends of the hoops, punching through the fabric within one use or a few. I did not bother to find out. Instead, I used white duct tape on the ends of each hoop to reinforce the fabric. Then used white duct tape on the hoops themselves. In addition, ensure that the hoops themselves would not collapse upward, I safety pinned the hoop corners to each other. I may change that up with a white ribbons. Does it look absolutely Janky? 100%. We do not care club. I played princess for six hours in prep of my Renaissance dress. There were no hoops, punching through fabric or any other malfunctions. The elastic waste is a bit tight. You could always cut it then resell it to allow a little bit more room if preferred. I’m giving four stars given the fact that the ends of the hoop fabric are not reinforced by the seller. And they should be. It might cost a little more to do so, but it serves the customer far better to reinforce those ends.

I used this with my Claire Fraser wedding dress that i made. It worked great! Buckled under the weight of the taffeta, but still held shape. I recommend using fabric /fashion tape to keep the cage from slipping if you have a high quality fabric with substantial weight. Lighter/ traditional costume fabric would hold well with nothing additional needed!

Broke almost immediately and without petticoat the dress falls through bottom. Second could be user error but two of the rings broke in minutes

It fit well and I liked that it was collapsible for storage. The problem was that it also collapsed under the skirt I was planning to wear, no matter how much I futzed with it. I’ve seen pics of folks wearing it as an outside piece and decorating it with lights, fabric, etc. and I think this would have worked really well for that…I just had different costuming needs this time around. If I were a better seamstress, I’d probably have been able to figure out how to shore it up to work under a long, full skirt (one reviewer did something with curtain fabric and looked absolutely stunning), but since I do not have the time or the talent for that, back it went. All of that to say: it could be a super cute and workable piece; it just depends on what you need it for and how crafty you are.

Lightweight, collapsible for ease or storing, and give you the gorgeous baroquesque hips you’ve always wanted. I was worried about the one size fits all, but it was perfect. I’m 5’ 6/1/2”, 123 lbs., and roughly a 26” waist. And it easily stretches to accommodate probably double the waist circumference.

I bought this item to be part of a Burlesque act. The act was a comedy number with a lot of craziness in it. In the process, I ended up customizing this hoop skirt quite a lot - putting a hook closure in the waistband, cutting some of the vertical ribbons and putting in snaps, and adding braided cord to some of the vertical ribbons to jazz it up a bit. The hoop skirt really earned its place in my wardrobe. It was used in rehearsal for 3 months, abused in ways that are hard to describe, packed in my luggage constantly and altered all the ways listed above - and it totally hung in there. I did have to do some minor repairs - sewing back together some of the sleeves for the hoops, and reattaching the hoops when they disconnected. But for the price, this was a treasure. I'm like the stress tester of ... well .. just about everything I own, but especially anything that gets used in a Burlesque act - and this hoop skirt gets the Betty Blaize seal of approval.

Technically, this fits my 39in waist, but stretching the elastic waist band to the max makes the pannier take a weird form in the front. Maybe it's fixable but I don't know how. One of the bones slipped out so I can confirm they are steel bones like advertised. I'm 5'8 and it's long enough for floor length gowns.

It is a bit flimsy. it doesn't work with dresses that have an open face later, or is slightly on the heavier side.
