It's very much centered on Biblical teaching rather than stories, which makes it so much deeper than the trite, anecdotal devotionals that are out there. It does challenge your walk with Christ, but it doesn't kick you in the pants with a condescending tone, either. I've found it to be very encouraging! Here is how I use this devotional: 1. I read the suggested scripture reading for the day. 2. I read the devotional teaching. 3. I fill in the P.R.A.I.S.E. notes section. 4. I got back over my notes and literally pray them out. This process takes me roughly 15-20 minutes, depending upon how much I meditate on the scripture, or how groggy I am in the morning! I have found the PRAISE notes section to be so helpful in structuring my prayer life. The "Repentance" section has been especially important, because there is always something we can repent for. It has really helped me to see the things in my life that are opposed to God and His Word. The "Equipping" portion of the prayer is also vital.
