iFixitAdhesive Strips Compatible with iMac Intel 21.5" (2012-2019) - Repair Kit

It has been about a month since I used this product to reattach my iMac's monitor after upgrading the RAM and HDD. No signs of it failing and was well within my ability to apply. Doubt I will ever need to purchase again, thus I will happily recommend with to all who ask!

Re-attached the screen as advertised.

This adhesion kit works extremely well. So well in fact that you really only get one shot at this. Follow all of the instructions and ensure correct placement before you remove any of the protective back. Take extra care when reinstalling the screen, you only get one attempt. After a proper installation is completed you would never know that the computer had been opened. This product worked extremely well as advertised.

Everything fit perfectly. If in doubt of your skills, watch their installation video. Just take your time. Hardest part of the repair was getting off the old adhesive. Just takes a little time & effort 90-99% alcohol and a microfiber cloth worked perfectly. Installation was a breeze. All iFixit parts & tools have been top notch.

The hard drive in the Mac died. And the display and surrounding glass is 'glued' in place with some form of double side sticky foam/tape I had to cut it and then replace it once the hard drive replacement was done. The small wheel cutter which was included made this job easy and safe. I did take a new razor blade and wrap most of it in tape leaving only a very small section exposed. This made it safer and not capable of going to deep to get it started then used the wheel cutter. If I had known how well the wheel cutter worked I would have just started with that.The replacement double sided tape resealed the screen to the metal case perfectly. Now more than a month later it is all still holding together perfectly.The strips were well cut and aligned very easily. This repair took little time or skill and put a very nice computer back into operation.If I ever have to open this machine again. I would buy this again without hesitation.

The strip fix great the computer, they stay strong. I have already reopen one equipment that I put this strips and it was more strong that the original. Recommend to clean very well before apply.

Worked out great. The pizza cutting tool took all of 5min to remove the imac screen. The re-install useing the provided glue strips was clear and concise to follow. The imac went from a 5min load up to 10 seconds with a samsung ssd and new 16gb of ram.

I have used literally dozens of these kits to do SSD upgrades on customer iMacs. I have used other brands but my experience with iFixIT products has generally been good. Not with this kit.This kit was in a sealed plastic bag that required a knife to open. That's it, just the bag. Virtually all other brands I have used have been packaged inside of a long narrow cardboard box as well to protect against damage in transit. In this case there was a slight bit of backing that came loose because of being in an Amazon bag with other components. I was able to use the product, but a little more exposed adhesive would have rendered the strips unusable.My biggest complaint was that the material for the two bottom edge strips was completely different than the rest of the strips and not in a good way. It was more than twice as thick and much more foam-like. The backing was quite difficult to remove and placing these 2 strips was quite difficult because the material kept bunching.Finally, there is only one cutter wheel provided, and ALL other kits I have used have included a couple of spare cutter disc's. It is possible to break a disc while using it, and if I had, it would have forced me to use a razor blade, something I do not find attractive.No more iFixIT iMac adhesive kits for me, I will go with other brands from here on out.
