Can this be used for HE washing machine?

Yes run the temp around 127 degrees and you can us it on a 3 bed 2 bath without dropping heat I will tell you you CANNOT run the washer and shower at the same time

Did you dismantle it at all? I put the little white cartridge in upside down and had a problem, but turned it over and it ran fine. You might want to check what error message it was and maybe we can help a bit better.

Can I put a plug on it without have to wire it in?

I have well water that comes in cold around 52 -57 during the winter months, Would this work for a dog bath tub?
