It works good
Works great always shows correct gear .Not super hard to set up plugged it in went through all the gears slowly till it stopped blinking. My wife put it on her 2015 Honda cbr 500r

Get it if you donโt have a factory indicator!!!
Love love love this little thing. Super easy to install and calibrate. Iโm not sure what people are complaining about saying itโs difficult to set up. I had it done in less than 1/8th of a mile. Super super easy. My ONLY โcomplaintโ would be if I hit my kill switch sometimes it doesnโt affect it, and other times it puts it into โfaultโ mode and I have to either shut off and restart the bike (once is usually enough) or just ride and wait for it to catch up. Itโs bright enough that Iโve had zero problems seeing the number, itโs quick enough to keep up with me fast shifting. One thing I can agree with other people is it going to zero if holding the clutch. While I understand why it does it, I feel itโs something that couldโve been coded in to show the actual gear while clutch is being held.

Just what I wanted
Easy to set up, easy to restart the process if your gears donโt get set up right at first. Nice and bright. Works great!

Works good
Gear indicator works good if you follow the instructions exactly to the letter. Don't follow the instructions included in the package. Go to YouTube and just put in gear indicator installation and you will see there's plenty of examples. Work so far so good I guess we'll see very bright there is a one to two second delay in each change of the gears.

Pretty decent, with a minor drawback or two
I like this product, but there are a couple of things to note about it before buying.First, the installation is super easy. I recommend attaching the display where you want it first, then routing the cable accordingly. It plugs right into the motorcycle's computer and works immediately. I was very happy with the install.Second: Programming it is weird. You will need about two miles of road, upon which you'll need to ride at many different speeds for a while depending on what gear you're in. You need to be able to stay in each gear until the unit is done calibrating that gear (the number will blink slowly until you put the bike in the indicated gear, then it will blink quickly while it's learning. You can't change gears until it indicates a new gear, so be prepared to stay in each one for about 15 seconds, gradually increasing speed until you reach top gear). If you do it a bit wrong (like I did the first time), the thing struggles to determine what gear you're in. In my case, it would take forever to show I was in fifth, and instead showed that I was in fourth. I went out and found a longer road to re-calibrate on, and made sure that I was going faster in each gear than the last (I think the first time I messed up because I went about the same speed in fourth as I did when I was programming fifth, which made it act goofy). After re-calibrating it works like it's supposed to.Finally, it will only indicate your current gear when the clutch is released. If you pull the clutch in, a horizontal dash appears until you release the clutch...meaning that if you didn't take stock of what gear you were in before you began shifting, you can't find out until you let go of the clutch. This is probably my biggest irritation with this product, since I often approach a turn, pull the clutch and brakes, but forget what gear I was in before I started slowing down, then I look to see what gear I'm currently in, but I've already pulled the clutch, so I can't see what gear I'm in and have to figure it out some other way, usually by just putting it all the way into first, then counting up shifts from there as necessary. This has been only a minor inconvenience though. For what you get, it's actually a great product and I love having an indicator telling me exactly what gear I'm in, even if it is only when the clutch is out.

Why pay more?
I have a 2015 Honda CB500F. I've only had this gear indicator for a little over a month, but it works as advertised and looks great. It was easy to install too. I'm just starting to wrench on my bike more, doing more work myself, and this was one of the first things I've installed. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish. It was literally plug and play. I watched a couple of videos on youtube on how to install and installed it a few minutes later. It was also easy to program. Some videos say that programming while the bike is on a stand is easiest. I don't have a bike stand, so I was riding it when I programmed it, but I have to disagree. Programming the indicator while riding the bike could not have been easier! The instructions weren't the best, but I figured it out. The programming maybe took a minute, and in less than a mile it was done.I researched a lot of different gear indicators before buying this one. There are several out there that cost more ($100+), but the reviews for this one were pretty good so I decided to take a chance and it's been great. Unless this starts to short out or something, I don't know why anyone would need to spend $100+ on another gear indicator. I ordered the green and it looks great. I don't know if other indicators will show which gear you're in when the clutch is pulled in, but this one doesn't. I wish it did, but I'm getting used to it. The product came a day later than expected delivery date, but I wasn't really in a hurry, so it still worked out.I'll try to take a better picture and upload later.

This is probably the easiest and best thing I've installed on the bike yet
This is probably the easiest and best thing I've installed on the bike yet. I have a 2018 Honda Rebel 500. The install was super easy with the exception of trying to find out how to hide the wiring. It took less effort than I thought to program it. It learned each gear before I even left our neighborhood development. It is a tad bright and it'd probably be obnoxious at night but I don't ride at night so it's not a concern.I know when I first looked this up I looked everywhere for instructions before I bought it. I didn't find any. So...I am leaving some behind. This product should work with the 2017 and 2018 Honda Rebels. They're both the same bike just issued in different colors. This product plugs into the data port. That's a red plug right underneath of your seat. It has a cover. Be careful not to break it when taking it off. Then all you have to do is wire it along making sure you don't clamp off anything you shouldn't with the zip ties included (I just used my own longer ones). Then you program it by driving it on a stretch of road. That's literally it. Quickest and easiest install ever and it's so handy to have.I'm not only a new rider but also new to manual transmission vehicles. I easily forget what gear I'm in when riding. For me this is great.

One of the best mods bur don't use provided adhesive. It won't stick very well
Super easy to install on my CB500F.Aside from the crappy adhesive that comes with it, this is definitely one of the most legendary $40 I've ever spent. As a three going on for your rider a memorized my gears but for those 2% times where I forget what gear I'm in This mod absolutely saves my tail. Before getting an indicator I always shift into first thinking I'm going from third to 2nd But never again with this right here.Installation of super simple the adhesion is terrible but it went to Walmart and got some double-sided locking tabs from 3M and some electrical tape to secure the wires and it's absolutely magnificent.Double-sided velcro is very nice because you can always take this off if when you please. The normal adhesive they gave me even with tape flew off on the highway and it was behind a windscreen so that should tell you how weak the adhesion is But don't let that stop you from buying this because 3M tape is super cheap.Best way to program this is using a rear stand.
