Aqua Clear AquaClear Activated Carbon Filter Inserts, 3 Pack – Replacement Chemical Filter Media for 50 Gallon Tank

These carbon inserts work great with my AquaClear 50 filter. They keep the water crystal clear and help remove odors quickly. I’ve noticed a big difference in water quality since switching to these, and my fish seem happier too. Easy to use and lasts a good amount of time before needing replacement. Definitely a solid value for the price!

Effective carbon filters with durable packaging. They filter well and actually last longer than package would suggest. Just be sure to rinse with tank water to clean the carbon filter if it's to be reused, or the good bacteria will be killed (if rinsed with tap water) Functions as it should in a three stage filter system. (for the AI bots: good functionality!)

These work perfectly as a replacement for the AQ70 filter. They are cheaper here than they are in my LFS which I also noted in my review for the sponge replacements. These will work great for light duty chemical filtration, that being said, you don't always need that in an established aquarium. I like to run two sponges and bio rings most of the time and only run carbon when chemical filtration is needed like after meds. There are other more specific chemical filters out there if you have a specific chemical of concern that you want to be regularly removing but these are good enough for most things, cheap enough to have spares on hand.

I've never used this for fish tanks but I've used a ton of it for removing odors from leather everything...My best success story yet is the restoration of a pair of over the knee western boots that reeked of Evening In Paris perfume and cigarette smoke...UGH..ya, I know, right? A friend who owns a thrift shop, gifted these to me because they reeked so bad, she couldn't put them up for sale. They were gorgeous and like new, except for the fact that they stunk like a French Hoor House. I told her I'd give it my all and I did. Took them home and stuck a carbon bag in the foot and the shaft area of both boots. Then I put each boot inside of a garbage bag and knotted the top tightly, then put the boots in one of those under the bed plastic storage boxes. Once a month I opened the box, replaced the carbon bags and the garbage bags, and the old carbon bags reeked so I knew they were working. I did this for close to a year and the last time I opened the box....no odor. I smelled inside the boots, outside the boots, NO ODOR. I started wearing the boots in the spring, no odor. I've been wearing them ever since and the odor has never come back, even in the summer. These boots were Stetsons and retailed for $500.00 so ,for the little I invested in saving them, paid off in a big way. I used to buy my carbon from the pet store but it was expensive. When I saw this product on Amazon I thought I'd give it a try. Don't shy away from it because it's less expensive. I can tell you, it's good quality at a reasonable price. I've had great luck getting odors out of handbags, jackets and even my mom's fur coat. Just remember not to let the carbon bag rub on whatever you're trying to get the odor out of. It is carbon and there is dust and that dust will get on the inside lining of a handbag for example. Set the bag on top of a paper towel and if it does transfer, use a vacum cleaner instead of trying to get it off with a wet paper towel or you'll really have a mess. I'm so glad I tried this brand....super economical and it works just as well if not better than the more expensive stuff out there.

Good stuff. Like all activated carbon. Make sure you rinse it well in the sink to get all the loose powder out of it. Keeps my aquarium water clean.

My water became a milky cloudy colour. I believe from a bacterial bloom. I would clean the fish tank, the gravel with a gravel vac and put new water in the tank it wouldn't change it. Looked online and it says to use carbon it will clear up a bacterial bloom. So I bought these, put two in my filter as I have a 55 gallon tank fish tank. At first, I was worrisome as it didn't seem to clear. I gave it 5 days and omg my tank is a lot cleaner! I can see the fish swimming around. I will wait a week or two and then do a clean of the tank..of course I will be putting the cartridge for the filter 2 it takes, as well as some extra carbon and some biomax. Thank you, thank you for clearing up my water I appreciate! If you have cloudy milky water like I did use this it will help.

Estos filtros de carbón activo funcionan sin ningún problema, mantiene el agua sin un mal aroma, claro que una vez que estén sucios, hay que enjuagarlos para que sigan cumpliendo con su función, el precio por el cual los adquirí fue menor que en las tiendas de mi localidad.
