Bought this with the stirring paddle. This is awesome, and perfect for all the shrimp/crab boils we do. Extra long, and a really great size basket. Helps getting the food out quickly and safely. Seafood can overcook quickly if you don't get it out of the boiling water fast enough, and this take care of that. I've spent many an evening using too small of these getting food out and nearly burning my arm, but no more. While a pot strainer would work even better, if you don't have or want one, this is a great alternative. The entire item is metal, so, if you leave it in the soup pot, it will get hot. That's common sense, take it out when not in use. Just last night, we had a shrimp boil, and this cleared out the 33qt pots we used in a very short time. (we had lost the strainer baskets to both of them) Good for stirring to, but, bought the paddle for that. Very good quality, very sturdy. A great price as well. For those with tender hands, have a couple of oven mitts or pot holders standing by.

Perfect for our crab boils! Do not have to Worry about getting steam burn, long sturdy handle. Great big scoop perfect for Potatoes, corn on the cob, and sausage. This is the only reason I bought this! Could be great for other things as well.

used it for boiled peanuts and a low country boil so far and it held up well. you can load it up and it doesn't flex. works really well for stirring a 60 quart pot full.

Works great and is strong enough to lift pretty much anything that will fit on the mesh. I cooked a huge crawfish boil and afterwards I worry about corrosion, as the nickel plating seems mighty thin and it looks slightly rusty deep in the grooves after I washed it. Better keep this thing dry and oiled, and watch the strength of the dish washing solvents you use.

So I got this the other day opened it and was surprised at how large it is. Im going to be canned large volumes of tomatoes and other food. I needed a large perforated spoon to transfer the food to my milling machine. this is perfect. long handle so I dont burn myself hitting the pot, and large enough to get large amounts of produce to the mill. Great!

Wow. This is the skimmer every cajun needs. The long handle works great for medium to large pots used for boils, fish fries, and occasionally whacking your buddies trying to raid the pot before its time. Built like a tank and should last forever. Couldn't have asked for a better built skimmer.
