blue one (vibrating version) didn't work, but yellow one (version with static shock) is working well
I bought this collar for my 65lb short hair dog to help with recall while trail-running and hiking in the woods. Although this one didn't work for my dog, the company was kind enough to exchange it for their static shock version (the yellow one), and I'm updating my review after using the static shock version.Below is my initial review points (•) and my revision after using the yellow collar (√):• Initially, I had to reset the channel not only each time I turned it on, but also consistently during our hikes. Seems to change channels on its own for some random reason, and I could not find a pattern as to what caused it. Had to consistently check it during a hike to see if it was working and which channel it was on.√ Yellow version is not changing channels on its own after using it for 2 weeks.• The vibration was not strong enough to get my dog's attention when the remote did stay on its channel. She does not have long hair, or lots of loose skin around her neck, but the collar still wasn't strong enough to get her attention.√ By now (months after I bought the blue one) my dog knows what the tone, vibration, and shock mean--ie that she needs to come back. I rarely need to use the static shock at this point, but initially had to use that to teach her what it meant, and to get her attention. At this point she'll return with simply using the tone or vibration unless she's so focused on chasing a deer she forgets anyone else is around.• The remote is not well designed for wet/cold weather/winter use. If holding it with a gloved hand or in a pocket, it is very easy to inadvertently and unintentionally push a button, or the wrong button.√ Haven't used it in the winter yet, so not sure if things will be different with gloves. I'm used to the panel now, and also bought a runner's belt/carrying pouch that I use while hiking. I have not inadvertently changed the channel since using the carrying pouch.• Would be nice if the remote had a ring or some means of hooking it to a lanyard. Again, this would be good in wet/cold/winter weather, and for those of us who want to use it while trail running or hiking on mountainous trails when it is sometimes necessary to use hands to grab hold of a tree or rock to clamber up a steep incline.√ I still think the design change above would be a great addition. Other than that, I'm pleased thus far with the yellow static shock version.

Auto function didnt work as description and directions stated.
I got this particular collar because of the automatic feature stated in the description. According to the description, as well as the instructions that came with product, you are supposed to be able to set it to auto mode. This mode as described is for using the collar as an anti bark collar without the use of the remote. I needed this feature for when my dog is left home to help with her incessant barking. I followed the directions multiple times, and nothing happens. The test scratch area did not activate the collar, nor while the dog was wearing it and barking, while the receiver was in auto mode. I reached out to the company's support as well as seller, the website for the company is useless, and even to register product all avenues on their website leads to the "page not found" error. The remote works perfectly with the collar, therefore three stars. I will return for refund as what the product description said it could do, it doesn't work properly in auto mode.Update:Seller did contact me, and explained that the auto function on collar does not work. I still returned item. I will leave rating at three stars, as the product description is still misleading, as well as the instructions that come with the product. AGAIN, remote worked well with collar for those who were looking only for that feature, the beep sound was adequately loud, and the vibrate was very noticeable when turned up. It was very simple and easy to use, just not accurately advertised on the description, update that and for initial opinions on product it would have been four stars or more. I have no opinion on the longevity of the product when put to full use as product was returned.

Good unit, just not for our dog.
This review is for the non-shocking version. This is a well-made unit that should work great to get a less active dog's attention. I got this because I didn't want to hurt our dog and our miniature pinscher's reaction was perfect - when we tried it in the house. But out in the real world, well....First off, our dog is a rescue that was well-trained by the previous owner and is very well behaved - about 90% of the time. The other random 10% is not so good and is a serious issue: Anything moving demands his attention. A few days ago we were in the yard (a very large out-in-the-country yard) when the neighbor and his daughter came out of their house. They are about 100 yards away across a fairly busy rural street at about 5:00 PM (a lotta cars). The instant he saw them, our dog bolted. I called. I called some more. I hit the beeper button. I hit the vibrate button. Turned it all the way up and tried again. He never broke stride. Thankfully there were no cars right then or he would have bought it for sure.I'm in no way bashing this product. We truly wanted it to work. But in our case it WOULD NOT STOP A VERY DETERMINED DOG. We are very fortunate to still have our little buddy with us but it came waaaay too close to ending badly, and people should be aware that the more humane (and IMO, better) methods may just not work for their particular pet. It's something to keep in mind if you have a headstrong breed.

More like less than 100 yards and the collar broke at ...
This was a gift to a friend of mine with a new German short hair pointer. Well It didn't have the range in the field, (800 yards stated in the literature) as described. More like less than 100 yards and the collar broke at one of the plastic retainers that position the device on the actual nylon collar. Granted that pup is pretty rambunctious, still its a training color right! May only be suitable for the back yard or in the house. Very disappointed! After further review and a response from the manufacture, which by the way, emailed me with an apology and provided us with a new collar. How about that. So far everything is a described. I really appreciate people and manufactures who stand behind there products. We still need to do the field trials, but at least we have some option to rain in Wyatt the Dog. Thanks again!
