The fact that they named her the Wondering Star and let her speak with the counsel, mostly for their own selfish reasons. One thought dead reappearing among the enemy as a captured prize (prisoner) was definitely an interesting twist. It is not the only one in this story. I finished this book in less than 2 days, I hate myself for reading it so fast but I couldn't stop! You continue to surprise the readers with each new mystery and slowly revealing them. The introduction of each new world refills my excitement and causes me to keep reading until I get to meet another guardian. It hurts knowing the same feeling I got last year after finishing book 1 and having to accept the fact I have to wait one more year for the next book, but I know it'll be worth wild! All of the problems I had in the first one are still there, but it's only fair to judge the sequel based on how it stacks up against the first.And honestly, for what it is, I enjoyed it even more than the first. The world-building is still on point. The pacing is greatly improved. And I loved the new villains introduced at the halfway point. I liked that there was an element of unpredictability as to where the overall plot was going to go next. I was even somewhat interested in the, ahem, love triangle, if only because I missed Matthias's groundedness, so someone who's actually into that kind of thing will probably continue to enjoy it here.I will say it was a fight to remain in Rho's point of view the entire story. She goes from bland to unforgivably stupid in this installment, and not only do the other characters fail to hold her responsible for her actions, they practically fight each other to see who can kiss her butt more. She. Is. Unbearable in this story. But that was really the only problem aggravated from Book 1.
