Ice Road Trucking.
Ice Road.Genre: Action/Thriller.Certificate: 12Running Time 113 Minutes.Plot Synopsis. After a remote diamond mine collapses in the far northern regions of Canada, an ice driver leads an implausible rescue mission over a frozen ocean to save the lives of trapped miners despite thawing waters & a threat they never see coming.Timelord Thoughts.Liam Neeson returns to his action thriller roots in this entertaining action thriller from writer/ director Jonathan Hensleigh & while the first act is a bit of a slow slip the movie soon shifts into gear for it's second & third acts in delivering some nail biting & well directed action sequences.Liam Neeson stars as Mike McCann & his brother Gurty, an Iraq War veteran suffering from PTSD & aphasia, work for a trucking company until Mike punches another trucker for referring to Gurty as a "retard".Mike hears about ice road truckers needed in Winnipeg, & so they apply. Jim Goldenrod (Laurence Fishburne), another trucker who agrees to lead a rescue mission to deliver wellheads to the mine. He hires McCann & Gurty, along with a young woman, Tantoo. Also joining is actuary Varnay, responsible for insurance risk assessment for Katka, the company which owns the mine. $200,000 is split between the four truckers, which will be redistributed among the survivors if anyone dies but this being a action film somebody isn't who they seem & doesn't want the trucks to complete there rescue mission. The first act is a slow burn but it's more about introducing the characters & explaining the plot. However as soon as the movie hits the road it delivers a suspenseful thrill ride white knuckle entertainment, Neeson is great as the regular Joe type character Mike battling the elements as who has to contend with storms, avalanches & a sabatour who trying to thwart the rescue mission, director Jonathan Hensleigh builds tension towards a exciting suspenseful third act & concludes the movie with a satisfying pay off.The excellent Laurence Fishburne features in a small role as Jim Goldenrod & it's a shame that his character didn't feature more in the movie, however this is Neesons movie & his irish charisma & likeability alone carry this movie.Overall, Ice Road is well worth a watch if you like suspenseful action escapism, it doesn't add anything new to the genre but it's entertaining nevertheless, the Blu ray ratio is 2.40:1 with a 5.1 audio mix featuring no extras or commentaries.

If Liam isnt careful hes going to be another who goes on a "Slippery"slope straight to Disc
Cheaply made light thriller. You,ve read the write ups,but this has a feel of"straight to disc"as was his last couple of movies.Lets hope he gets better scripts, because, hes just too good to be a "Bruce Willis".This is ok for a once watch. The explosions were obvious CGI and some of the stunts,I could do if you wanna call them stunts.Im sticking by yer Liam, but two more mediocre films like this and im gone.Ice Road says it all..5 out of 10.

Well worth a watch
Excellent film from the ever reliable Liam Neeson. Not sure about the “Die Hard On Ice” claim on the cover but it is certainly exciting & the big-rig stunt driving is something I haven’t seen before.

Could be better…
… but it’s certainly better than all those Superhero Movies at the Cinema over the past decade. Some mindless Popcorn fun.
