A friend requested my help replacing the Power Port on her personal laptop. I was able to locate the replacement DC Power Port on Amazon, it was fairly price (comparable to other online vendors). I chose to purchase on Amazon to take advantage of the Two-Day Prime Shipping. No other online vendor was able to get this part to me in less than one week. Once I received it, it took approximately 5 minutes to install, I re-installed all of the remaining parts that I needed to remove in order to install this part, tested it by powering on the laptop and connecting the charger. It worked great on the first try! The part itself is good quality - I installed this part approximately 1.5 years ago (03/2019) and it still working fine to this day! If you have experience installing power ports, this is a simple installation - if you have never replaced a power port on a laptop before, I would recommend looking "Replacing DC Power Port (Brand Name & Model) Laptop" on YouTube. There is a good chance you will locate a tutorial for the installation that you need.

Perfect fit in my Inspiron 15 5100 laptop that had a broken charge port. I no longer get the error "cannot recognize charging cable, it may be under powered and cannot charge your battery". The cord is a little longer than the original but its better to be too long than too short! Took me maybe 15 minutes to take the bottom cover off and install this item. Very pleased at how well it works.

Perfect replacement for my Dell Inspiron 5559. I took photos when taking my laptop apart to guide me in putting it back together. There are some videos online which make the installation easier. The hardest part is keeping all the screws organized to mark sure you reinstall the correct screws during the reassembly. There are a lot of screws to remove during this install and they come in different sizes. It is very easy to get the screws mixed up so make sure you organize them in the order you disassemble the laptop. This replacement jack works great.

After reading many reviews on this product i was was skeptical about ordering, but i did anyway. I am very pleased and my laptop has full functionality as if new again. I would buy again and recommend. Had i listened to those who obviously ordered this part when they had other issues going on i probably would have missed out on a great deal. It does what it is supposed to and i am very pleased.

I looked on different sites for a replacement jack and they were quite pricey. My Dell is Inspiron 15-5552. My port to insert my charger would not hold the plug. I was really disappointed to go through this with a laptop that I paid approx $700 for 2 years ago this past month. I use this laptop daily for school and personal so its not like I am "over using" it. I called a certified Dell laptop repair shop and they wanted $125 to just come out (covid) to look at it and that cost would go towards the repair "if" they found an issue. Hello? The port won't hold the plug. I read online that this is a common issue with this model. My boyfriend is pretty good with computers so he said he just watched a you tube video that walked him through installing the jack replacement part and now my computer works great!! I couldn't really show pictures once installed. You cant see it but you can see in these pictures the packaging and size. I would not hesitate to buy. $5.30 cost, a you tube video and a little patience and now a working Dell laptop. Other option Dell repair service...possibly out a couple of hundred dollars.

For some reason, the original design of this DC Jack is poor and quite loose. The replacement is better than original and easy to replace, However, it takes about 30 minutes and carefully following instructions that are available elsewhere. Since the jack is right below motherboard, you are almost disassembling the entire laptop. But it is not that difficult even for a first timer as a small philips screw driver is all that is needed. Considering how much it costs to replace the entire laptop or even take it to a store to fix the jack, this part is a life saver. I noticed right away this part is better than original and made a tighter fit.

Bestbuy wanted over $300 to replace this port thinking it needed a new motherboard. Here I was able to replace it for only $7. NOTE: Search for a good video on replacing it (like the Parts-People who make excellent repair videos) so you can see anything you need to be careful about when replacing it. So this port was smashed by the user when they jammed a headset jack into the power port hard enough to destroy the inside of the power port. Replacing it was quite a few screws and not for the faint of heart. You have to be careful with the plastic connectors and cable connectors to be sure you don't damage them or you could damage the laptop worse than it already is. If you are not comfortable with this have a professional replace it for you. Since it isn't the motherboard, and the part is only $7, it shouldn't be a very expensive replacement maybe $100-$125 for labor depending on who you hire.

This replacement power port is great. The Dell Inspiron barrel power ports are notorious for failing slowly, so this is a great replacement and works perfectly. The only design recommendation I'd suggest is for the "junction box" in the middle of the cable to be replaced or streamlined; it makes for a very tight fit around the wifi card cables. You can make it work, but it's tight. Very highly recommended!

Found the service manual on Dell website. I watched a video on YouTube and it seemed really straight forward. After I got it all back together and turned it on, the battery charger message was gone however it said the hard drive wasn’t connected. I removed the cover again and re installed the ribbon connector for the hard drive and the computer booted up. Charging is now working. Waiting for the battery to come and then the laptop will be like new. This part worked perfectly and seems to be better made than the original one. I would recommend this item again and would order this again if it breaks in the future. This saved a ton of money, the computer shop wanted $150 to diagnose it and said it would take 4 months to fix as they generally send them out for repair. It’s way easier and cheaper this way for sure.

the socket appeared a bit tight initially but after 2-3 uses loosened up. Battery charge function works well, power connection is stable. So I can move my laptop without the fear of it switching off because of loose connection (that i used to experience till I replaced the powerjack. Installation is a breeze if you know how to disassemble the laptop. On my Inspiron 5888, i had to disassemble it completely.
