Mitutoyo 530-114 Vernier Caliper, Stainless Steel, Inch/Metric, 0-8" Range, -0.002" Accuracy, 0.0078" Resolution

I purchased the 8 inch model after a cheap Chinese made digital caliper I owned no longer gave me accurate readings. I should have purchased this caliper instead. The vernier scale is easy to read and gives me the accuracy I need for just about all of my tasks. My old calipers were 6 inch and I found that there were times when having an extra 2 inches of capacity would have been helpful. The 8 inch capacity with both inch and metric vernier scales is the best model for my needs. The calipers slide smoothly and are easy to lock in place with the thumb screw. The vinyl storage case is very thin and fragile looking...I don't expect it to last long.

Bon pied à coulisse, bonne précision, bon rapport qualité prix. Un instrument comme celui-ci aurait mérité une boîte sérieuse au lieu d'un étui souple, pourquoi pas en option? Le plus : la double lecture métrique/imperial, pratique quand on a affaire à de la visserie US.

As expected

As a mitutoyo product I'm sure it is accurate. I never got the chance to test it. As soon as I removed it from the box I visually inspected it and was shocked mitutoyo would let this set of calipers slide through qc. One jaw is longer than the other by about .020" and the radius that makes up the outside of the jaw is incomplete. It literally looks like they accidentally made one jaw too long and just ground the tip down so it somewhat meets up with the other one. I doubt it affects it's performance but I wouldn't even expect this from Fowler or Spi. What I received was a bad part from mitutoyo.
