Small Cube, Huge Impact
The Midea Cube 20-pint earned a spot in my personal Hall of Fame for hardworking appliances. When my home developed moisture and air-quality issues, this compact powerhouse ran day and night without complaint—like a tiny, determined superhero with a built-in water bucket! It kept humidity levels steady when nothing else seemed to help, and I could actually feel the difference in the air. It’s easy to empty, surprisingly quiet compared to many other dehumidifiers, and simple to control through the app—a lifesaver when I couldn’t be at home but still needed to manage moisture. Another feature I especially appreciated was being able to set the water-collection cutoff (say at 1½ gallons instead of 3). It made the bucket light enough for even an elderly relative to empty safely—small detail, huge difference. Sadly, my Cube has been through the same environmental mess I’m leaving behind, so I can’t bring it into my new home. But that’s not on Midea! This little unit did its job beautifully and then some. If appliances could retire with honors, mine would be getting a gold medal and a trip to Disney World. Thank you, Midea, for creating a product that helped me stabilize my home, health, and sanity!

Set it and forget it, perfect for basements
I needed a set it and forget it type of dehumidifier for the basement. We have wildly fluctutating humidity levels throughout the year so I needed one that allowed you to set a desired humidity level and it would automatically start and stop as needed to maintain the level. Design: This dehumidifier is very well designed. For those who need a bucket, this one has a large bucket with optional castor wheels and a folding handle. The dehumidifier unit sits on top of the bucket and is removed when emptying, which reduces the weight. I use the bucketless method where it drains into the sump pump hole and requires no regular check ins or maintenance. It comes with a drain tube, which is very short (about 2-3 feet long) but you can attach any garden hose to the unit. One minor annoyance is that in bucketless mode, you can't stack the device on top of the bucket, because putting it back on the bucket stops the bucketless mode automatically. I see how that can be considered a feature, but since bucketless mode requires that the entire drain hose remains lower than the hose connector, and the hose connector ir close to the bottom of the unit, one has to put the unit on top of something to make sure the hose can successfully drain. I had to put it on top of tupperware while the bucket sits idle nearby. It would be nice to be able to put it on top of the bucket without disabling bucketless mode. Basic usage: I set the humidity target to 50%. When it reaches 55-56%, it kicks in and reduces it to 49-50%. Then it enters sleep mode where the fans are turned off. Noise: The fan is fairly quiet even on the high setting. Power consumption: When it is running, it is around 250W When it first stops, consumption seems to stay at 19W for 3 minutes, then drops further to 1.3W (probably some kind of deep sleep) Smart features: I set it up via the recommended MsmartHome android app, which was very straightforward. It seems to be a Tuya compatible app. Not sure if the unit has bluetooth or something like that apart from wifi, but once I created the acct in the app, it autodetected the dehumidifier, asked me for wifi details and within 15 seconds, the dehumidifier was connected to my lan. I then set it up with HomeAssistant locally via the Midea AC LAN integration from HACS. It used the MSmartHome app login info to detect and connect to the dehumidifier (retrieves the necessary key/token from the service). After that point, I believe HA can locally access the unit without needing the MSmartHome remote service. The only nitpicky comment I have is that neither the android app or the HA integration shows whether the device is actually running or sleeping. They show it as "on". I do have it connected to a zigbee plug, which shows me power usage and that's the only way I can remotely tell whether the unit is running or sleeping. And most importantly, the device passes the power loss/restore test where it successfully retains the last settings and maintains operation. This is truly a set it and forget it type of dehumidifier with the added bonus of remote monitoring and control.

Works well, quiet and drains constantly into the floor drain- a winner!
Why did you pick this product vs others?: After two GE dehumidifiers both died within 6 months I started researching new devices that did Not have a pump and instead offered gravity drainage. The Cube is versatile and easy to set up- BUT VERY HEAVY! It arrives in a small box and well packed but it’s significant weight for older or infirm people. Has a great carry handle on both the powered unit and the bucket as well as optional casters (included) to roll the device around on its bucket. It has multiple options for use: 1: bucket mode where the water collects in the bottom bucket to be emptied, bucketless mode (a special mode to just run the power unit in a small space and drain straight into a drain or sink, and my chosen mode: the constant drainage, using the bucket for height but keeping the hose connected to the floor drain below. For me it keeps the unit above to allow gravity to do its job. I’ve had the dehumidifier for 24 hours now and the basement humidity is already 10% below what 2 GE units could do so I’m impressed. The unit is quiet (sounds like a fan) and has no smell to it, size is slightly more square than previous units but again very heavy. There is not a pump in this unit- so this review only covers the gravity draining dehumidifier. So far so good- really like the product, the big win will be if it lasts longer than 2-3 month unlike my other GE models.

Replacing my Bionaire PureQuiet unit which was sadly discontinued. The Midea does a good job but a little cumbersome removing the top section to empty the large bucket but the large bucket also means less times having to empty it. The noise level was important to me and is actually very acceptable. All in all it's a great unit and well worth the price. An update. I'm well into my first summer with this unit and it's actually much better than I had expected. I've had many dehumidifiers over the years but none would compare to this one. I'd give it an A+ if I could! Another update. The only issue I have are the filters, which are pretty fragile. I broke one portion of the frame trying to install it. Best to be very gentle when handling them. I managed to glue it together and we'll see how long it lasts. A replacement is around C$9 and C$14 shipping. An update. Thse second filter is now broken on the plastic edging, even after being very careful and gentle with it. This is after 18 months of use. So it's probably better to fabricate some kind of filter and mount it on the outside of the casing. I'm not impressed at all. As a de-humidifier it's great. The design not so much.

¡Te vas a sorprender!

The product works just fine and seems good. I’ve have it for less than a day now. I am only writing this comment because I am disappointed that the product in 110V which we don’t have at all. And it doesn’t mention that in the product discription. So I have to order a Step down transformer to get it to work. If I had known, I would’ve NOT ordered it.
