A: I don't know for sure but since so little is used I don't think it will harm it.   It is alcohol, oil and distilled water mostly in a mist.    My husband , who watches his septic like a hawk, has no issues with it.  We have used it especially when grandkids come over.  We have 10 and 7 are boys.    Not sure if this helps.

**Q: air freshener? they have them from $1 up**
A: Not an air freshener, you spray it on top of the water befor you go poo to keep the smell from going into the bathroom.
