I have a collection of sledges for exercise and yard use. This heavy sledge is well built and I don't foresee issues with the head slipping. Yhe overstrike pad is nice. I love it.

Haven’t use it yet, but should be good I guess. Just the color wasn’t the same as Amazon item pictures. It is orange color.

The hammer itself is good, 4 stars. I took 1 star off for some rough spots, splinters on the handle that I'll have to sand. But the big issues and reason for 2 stars is.... It arrived without packing or box of any kind, no protection. Zero. The entire hammer, handle and head were filthy. The handle had taken a hit on the road and was dented. There were stickers all over it that when removed left sticky residue. The Fedx shipping label was pasted right on the hammer head. This all took me 40 min so scrape and clean off. The handle was a nice size, but was dry as kindling wood I had some orange oil I used to clean off the multiple sticker residue, black dirt and to treat the wood. I'm going to the store today to pick up som fine grit sand paper to smooth out the burrs and splinters on the handle. As others have stated....it's orange, not silver like the ad pics. I like the orange. (I use various sizes of sledgehammers to augment my steel mace training for the in between sizes ) This weighs 17lbs.

The 16 lb head is heavy. gentle hit get it done
