Completely Thrilled
My hummingbirds love this feeder! I had noticed a few flying around and had a single glass ball that I filled with the sugar mixture and put out for them. It was a clear glass with a green colored swirl to it. Not much color but they did end up finding it after a few days. It didn't have a perch and only one feeding tube for them. I also saw them chasing each other off. LOL. I decided to get a brighter feeder with more ports and a perch so they could rest and not chase each other off. Initially I was going to get one of the basic feeders that you see in most back yards. I'm a stickler for reviews and I didn't want something that was going to leak or that was plastic and would crack. If I was going to pay $15 for one of those feeders, I figured it wouldn't kill me to pay $25 for this (after coupon applied) and have a beautiful, colorful glass feeder that had a 5 star rating. This feeder is really pretty. The birds love it. I work at home and the feeder is right outside the window. All day long there are hummingbirds at this feeder. They still chase each other off but if there is not a hummingbird on it, it's rare. It is built very well and I have had zero issues with leaking. The wide mouth of the liquid jar makes it easy to clean and the food ports are easy to clean with a little brush too. The silver piece in the picture lifts off the red container at the bottom making that easy to clean as well. I am really pleased with this feeder. It's beautiful, sturdy and the hummingbirds flock to it! Well worth the money.

eegads!! Love It!!! But for those searching as I was ----this is only a 16oz feeder, not 20oz :(
Works FAB on my balcony/patio scheme! Yep, me & the birdies love it!!! I just had to find/wanted/needed the perfect 'glass blown feeder' to make me happy & integrate with my others :) Why I post here though is to 'INFORM' others of the capacity GGnome states: They state that this feeder holds: 20 oz. IT DOES NOT & CAN NOT !!!!!! While the 'FULL CAPACITY' of the feeder 'might hold' 20 oz ----------IT REALLY COULD NEVER HOLD THAT MUCH! ..... ....the glass blown bottle will ONLY HOLD 16 oz. While the bottom portion may hold those extra 4 oz (have not measured, but have filled the feeder enuf to know)....... there is a HUGE PROBLEM if you are here gauging the latest size feeder that you'd like to poss purchase! IT WILL NOT HOLD 20 oz of nectar, but only the 16 oz mentioned prior. Why? .... ....cuz being the type of feeder that is is, you will only be able to fill the bottle from the 'top down'. Once you have filled the bottle (upside down req'd to fill obviously), you must THEN screw on the bottom portion (feeding ports section) to the upper GORGEOUS glass bottle top (while the bottle is STILL UPSIDE DOWN). Once you've screwed the glass top to the bottom feeder portion ------ and flip it over to hang...............THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to 'include those 4 oz missing' EVER!!!! Grateful Gnome needs to "own this fopaw & "reaccount" for the capacities of what they sell. The item is beyond lovely although yes, althought I would like to see: 1) The 'capacity amts' of their feeders to be more accurate (I did buy due to a supposed 20 oz capacity). 2) The sitting bars were a bit lower for my little birds but obviously they had to find a happy medium for all hummers. 3) They changed (or offered) silicone flowers & feeding ports rather than 'stiff metal flowers & ports' (... my hummers are used to and like those. They ARE easier on the hummers' beaks & are a more natural intake' from the ports). All in all though ----my Mama and her kids just absolutely just love being able to sit and relax whilest feeding!!!! They do look a bit more awkward while feeding than normal, but YES STILL ---this is their new fav feeder! (cuz they can sit is my guess. Pics show my other feeders (1 of them) which a more inclined 'hover' moment. I wanted that 'sitting moment for them' and they TRULY DO beyond appreciate that!!!! Many argue that 'it's natural' for them to hover (even at a feeder).... but those natural moments DO NOT ACCOUNT for how they might prefer to just sit and enjoy their moment while feeding. HECK, wouldn't you prefer to sit your butt down every now&then too!?!?!. I once had a male that used to 'sit all day' and protect his feeder, and while my Mama does not do that --- she will sit for many minutes contemplating life it seems :)) Besides, a sitting moment offers all us birdie mommas&daddies even more joy eh ;) With all of the above being said.... I have prev only purchased 'perky pet' feeders. While prob the most popular amongst most hbird aficianatos, they have slowly resorted to some kind of 'on-board floater' that most find issues with. That said, I have yet to rebuy anything new from them due to that. They do however now offer silicone flowers/tubes that would normally be quite helpful to our lil friends. Grateful Gnome fullfilled my DESIRE for an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS glass-blown feeder.... and the reaction that I've encountered means that I will keep looking towards them for both me & my hbirds' happiness. Thank You!!! (see my pics :).....YOU absolutely R-O-C-K Grateful Gnome!!! My feeder is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!!!!! ...BUT you must update the 'REAL capacities' of what you sell....it really matters when shopping for the best! :) ......and please think about silicone feeding flowers on your feeders! Help us help you! PS: no birdies included in pics.... my Mama rules my patio (i pay rent, she owns it), so trying to capture her or her kids for this item just ain't gonna work.... they flit, they fly, they own the territory....they do love it though!!!! hahahahhaaa ;)

Thrilled with My Grateful Gnome Hummingbird Feeders
INTRODUCTION On July 27, 2019, I ordered my first Grateful Gnome hummingbird feeder, the 20-oz Fiery Bell Tower, from Amazon and had ten hummingbirds within one day. Of course, some hummingbirds are extremely territorial. There was a constant ruckus around the feeder. I figured if I added three more feeders, I could spread the hummingbirds out a bit. On August 2, 2019, I ordered the 36-oz Blue Egg with Flowers, the 32-oz Red and Orange Mushroom and the 26-oz Red Speckled Mushroom. With four feeders, I went from ten hummingbirds to 40 hummingbirds. Doh! That wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but we enjoy the company. QUALITY The quality of the Grateful Gnome hummingbird feeders is excellent. The colors are vibrant. The glass is thick. The overall design is simple, yet effective. CAVEAT I would avoid the 28-oz Speckled Egg. The Speckled Egg has glass threads, however, at least the one I ordered on August 11, 2019 from Amazon was clearly an “older generation” feeder. As another reviewer pointed out, the coloring looks absolutely nothing like the Speckled Egg depicted on the Amazon and Grateful Gnome web sites. Both the Amazon and Grateful Gnome web sites stated the Speckled Egg had five flower feeding ports when in fact, the Speckled Egg I received only had four. The Speckled Egg is no longer available on the Amazon and Grateful Gnome web sites at this time (August 24, 2019). That's good. The version I received paled in comparison to the Grateful Gnome's most recent generation of feeders. Hopefully, the Speckled Egg has been discontinued or is in the process of being revamped. HAND-BLOWN GLASS? These feeders may be considered "hand blown", however, I'm sure they're blown into a mold. The seam is visible. Don't expect to receive a seamless, mouth-blown glass bulb like you’d see at an arts and crafts fair. This doesn’t take away from the overall beauty of the Grateful Gnome hummingbird feeders. The mold is used to ensure uniformity, especially with respect to the glass threads. It’s my understanding glass can be blown into a mold and still be considered “hand blown”, so I’ll give Grateful Gnome the benefit of the doubt with respect to their product description. Just set your expectations accordingly. FILLING FEEDERS (SIZE MATTERS) I have to fill all four feeders every day. KNOW WHAT YOU’RE SIGNING UP FOR WHEN YOU BUY A HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER! I'd recommend buying one (or more) of the larger (in terms of volume) Grateful Gnome hummingbird feeders. Obviously, this way you'll have to fill the feeders less often. NECTAR I prepare the hummingbird nectar in a pair of 2 L (2000 mL) Pyrex Erlenmeyer flasks. I heat 1800 mL of filtered (reverse-osmosis) water to a near-boil. I add 450 mL of white cane sugar to each flask using a funnel. THE SUGAR MUST BE ADDED TO THE HOT WATER VERY SLOWLY AT FIRST AS THE WATER MAY BEGIN TO BOIL VIOLENTLY AND THERE’S VERY LITTLE HEAD SPACE IN THE FLASKS. I stir each flask with a wooden spoon to completely dissolve the sugar and allow them to cool. Once cool, I add a rubber stopper to each flask. The following morning, I disassemble, clean and fill all four feeders and prepare 4 L of nectar for the next day. I like preparing, storing and dispensing the nectar in the same container. The Pyrex flasks are easy to clean. Note: I store the flasks at room temperature since in my case, it’s only for one day. Nectar can be stored in a refrigerator for up to a week. UNWANTED PESTS I have found HUGE ants in the base of the feeders. There will be a wasp on the perch / base from time to time. However, the wasps don’t seem to enter the base through the feeding ports. My next project will be to incorporate do-it-yourself brass “ant moats”. SUMMARY Overall, I’m thrilled with my Grateful Gnome hummingbird feeders. The Grateful Gnome customer service is outstanding. I plan to incorporate two more Grateful Gnome hummingbird feeders bringing my total to six. I’d like to get to the point I only have to fill the feeders every other day. Of course, if the two new feeders attract an additional 20 hummingbirds, I’ll be filling six feeders every day. Oh well, the hummingbirds are worth the time and effort.
