    Really great rod for the price.

Great rod for the money. Took this rod it for some combat steelhead fishing and am really pleased with it. Partied it with a shimano 4000 reel, and was really pleased with the action and the casting. Also plenty sturdy for some solid fights. Is it as good as some of the $400/$500 rods made by the elite companies... no, You're not

I have completely switched all my rods to Okuma! I believe this now makes six !This rod ends up falling in the same class as all of my others offering...high quality materials, high quality workmanship, and best-in-class value! I have caught everything from 15 to 20 lb Salmon, 5 to 15 pound Steelhead, even an occasional 10 to 20 lb Catfish! This Rod offers moderate action, which means you must use it as what it's made for, (a finesse, rubber band type rod)! If you do not treat it like a heavy action rod (trying to muscle fish in) ... you will never break it!

Light weigh and the 9 feet length allows me to cast a good distance with a one to two ounces of weight . I added a rubber sleeve with an ounce and a half of lead to the butt of the rod holder to balance the Penn Battle 3000 Reel that I paired with the rod . Should I use a Battle 4000 I could reduce the sleeve weight for a better balance.
