Works as intended.
It does what it should. Was easy to mount and holds the seat well. I used rivnuts to mount it to the bench seat in my Jon Boat and it is solid.

Strong base.
I have been very pleased with attwood products and this is no exception. Works perfectly with my Attwood pedestals. The six bolting locations make it firmly attach to the deck. At 240 I can generate a lot of leverage, when moving around. Added to by being in a 13" pedestal. These bases don't move if install properly.

Great mount that's reliable and sturdy but requires some knowledge to install.
I flush mounted 2 of these into a v-hull that I restored. I've seen a couple reviews that help with this but don't go in to detail. The step is 1.5' wide and the stem supports welded in are 2.5" wide. This means you'll need to have a hole that's a little bigger than 2.5' to flush mount. I drilled a 1.5' hole and then routered a cone into the wood seats to allow for the supporting welds additional width. How to flush mount: - If drilling into wood: Drill a 1.5" hole into the surface at a depth of 2.5", then file out a cone shape for the welded supports or drill out a 2.5' wider hole over the first at a depth of only .5' - If drilling into metal or fiberglass: Drill a 2.5' wide hole with a depth of 2.5" The plate itself is about .5' thick. If you want to recess the whole thing into wood like I did. Difficulty in removing the seat post. I've seen a lot of reviews that claim this is extremely difficult and even resulted in broken equipment. I did not have this issue. The friction clamp is secure, yet easy to remove. Once I have the option to upload videos I can show one of me pulling a seat post out with just two fingers. About 30lbs of pressure does it. Overall, these pedestal bases are great. The build is sturdy and it will definitely last. The only issue I have is the challenge to install them. It requires some definite knowledge and additional tools.

BUY if you're looking for the standard size base mount that goes with 99% of all the seat posts, brackets, etc.
PRO: 1. Arrived on time. 2. Fits standard 3/4 pin seat poles / base. 3. Thick paint and clear coating. 4. Six screw holes, disperses anchor points well. 5. Plastic insert adjusts for a tight / snug fit. 6. A 1.5" hole saw worked PERFECT for drilling the recessed hole for the mount to recess into. HIGHLY recommend you get that exact size. CON: 1. No stainless steel mounting screws. ALWAYS GO STAINLESS. 2. Only one color choice. 3. Plastic insert sleeve may wear out over time. May have to get small piece of metal pipe to replace it one day. OTHER: 1. Overall cutout will vary with your mounting needs, so be prepared for that. 2. ALWAYS double up on your mounting surface, i.e. TWO sheets of plywood under this makes a BIG difference. 3. Can be painted, but will need sanded a bit to make the paint stick. However, paint will most likely scratch off. 4. BUY if you're looking for the standard size base mount that goes with 99% of all the seat posts, brackets, etc. 5. DON'T BUY if you're looking for stainless steel, this may crack, chip, etc. then start to rust.

cutting the hole
The product is well made and looks sturdy for the boat seats but what i did is drilled out the bottom plastic lock and reamed it with a drill bit so it does not lock so tight you cannot get the seat out as was recomended by someone here. Also do not drill the hole as big as they want you to just the minimum amount and then use a router and file to make the rest of the hole. Makes for a stronger fit for the mount .
