For doing rope work with boats, a good rope cutting blade is very handy to have, works well too.

Modified an old Weller solder gun to accept the large (0.157" diameter) ends of the cutter tip. Tips come with ends spaced apart at 1/2" and required an adjustment to fit the solder gun 5/8" spacing. First test cut of 3/4" wide nylon web worked great.

Excellent quality and construction to easily replace the original.

The seller is selling two for the same price. You can get one for thought this was a really good deal.

For anyone wondering: the diameter of the rods are ~5/32”. I don’t know why that isn’t in the description so here you go.

No dislike, used to cut my synthetic, too long braids

Fits my Weller soldering gun nicely.

I purchased both these and the Weller Professional soldering gun (model D550PK) here on Amazon. In spite some people claiming these knife blades work in Weller soldering guns, I can assure you they do NOT work in this model. Not only are the rods too close together, they are too large of a diameter to fit into the gun. I really can't justify having $50 just in a hot knife for cutting nylon rope and another $45 for a soldering gun stored on my boat. Too bad someone doesn't make a soldering gun that also melts rope. I will stick to the tried and true method of heating a different knife in a flame and cutting the rope instead of having a niffy tool to do that.

My daughter makes rugs out of reclaimed fishing rope and she uses this rope cutter to cut and join the rope. She says it is a game changer for her as it makes her work easier and the rugs has more of a seamless look. Her favourite Xmas gift this year!
