The name brand memory showed up in my Bios as 2400 MHz memory, I had to enable the memory overclocking function for the name-brand to show up and function as it was sold (2666 Mhz). I returned/replaced the name brand memory with this brand because of the dead DIMM chip. A) Both chips worked out of the box, unlike the name brand. B) I didn't have to enable any sort of overclocking in my bios for these to show up and function at the 2666 MHz they are listed as. And no I didn't just leave memory overclocking on... I shut it off before I removed the other chips.
