Sony MDR-AS210/B Sport In-ear Headphones, Black

I ordered the latest model of Sony running headphones, and found the the around-ear cord rubbed and the sound only worked with the ear bud fully into my ear, which blocks out all other sound. Not good, in my opinion, for outdoor running! I want to hear some of the background noise, like car horns. So I returned to this old reliable model. The sound is good, not great, but it is very comfortable, and the speaker sits more outside than inside my ear, so I get my tunes safely. A great value for the price.

These stay on your ears as you change position. And they are low-tech enough to use while gardening where mud gets into everything.

They work ok & they are much cheaper than getting nearly identical ones at Target or Best Buy for $30 to $40 although the in-store versions are probably better as these appear to be cheaper Chinese made knockoffs of the same design sporting the Sony logo. Probably not genuine Sony earphones. I use these with my iPhone 7 & lightning to 3.5 jack adapter. Sound seems to come through pretty well. When I first tried them there was a static crackling sound coming through the left ear piece but it eventually went away after playing with the volume a few times. One thing I wish these headphones had is a volume controller so I don't always need to fiddle with the volume control on my phone. The earbud part that goes into the ear could be more comfortable. Its made from a hard plastic & has a somewhat odd shape most ears probably aren't used to so when you have them on for a while or try sleeping with them on you'll feel an uncomfortableness. They could have & should have made the in-ear speaker casing out of softer material. The hooks that go around the ears feel comfortable enough though. Hardly feel them once I have them on right. They are allot more comfortable & stay in better than the Apple earbuds that came with my phone. Almost everyone has different ear sizes & types so its hard to say for sure if they would be a universal one size fits all design. They would seem to work best for small/medium sized ears.

This is the second or third pair that I've used of this model, and they are all great. Second or third pair, mind you, over the course of years! These things are dependable and they stay attached to my ear while running unlike a lot of other headphones I've tried! Phenomenal value for money. Don't expect studio quality audio, but they deliver the audio endorphins I need while running.

If you like wired earbuds, these are the best options. The way they sit on and in the ear is incredibly comfortable, even for me, I have smaller ear holes. They give no ear fatigue after hours of wear. I use them while cycling, so I dont want something thats going to eliminate all noise. They do allow some outside noise in, but it is not intrusive. The sound quality is the best for non-adjustable earbuds Definitely recommend

My two previous earphones were Sony MDR-J10, and I was going to buy another pair when my last hit the end of their lives, but saw they were discontinued. I liked the style of them with hooks that allow the earbuds to hang from your ears, and speakers that rest in your ear, but aren't necessarily inserted into them. The MDR-AS210/B are similarly style, except the hooks reconnect to the headset at the bottom. Additionally, instead of the hooks being hard plastic like the J10's, the AS210/B's are a soft rubber-like material. I, personally, don't like this new style. The closed loop makes it hard to put the earphones on. I have to wedge and finagle my ear through the hook, meaning it's not easy to slip on and off during my work day. Then there's the shape of the hook. The little bump between the top part of the hook and the bottom part presses into the back of my ear, causing pain. So far, this sounds negative, but I still give them three stars because I was able to remedy the problems by cutting the hooks with a pair of scissors. I just snipped the rubbery-plastic at the bottom of the hook, then again somewhere between the middle bump and the top part, and I no longer had a problem. They're a decent pair of earphones now. That said, I shouldn't have had to do this, which is why it's 3 stars. Also, the cord to the jack is a little shorter than I'd like...

I purchased these MDR-AS210 headphones in July 2021, thinking that they use little rubber earbuds that block out external sounds. The photos on the sale page didn't clearly indicate otherwise. But when I received the headphones, I saw that the earbuds are the hard-plastic in-ear type (also called side-firing), exactly like those in the long-discontinued Sony MDR-W08L Vertical In-The-Ear Headphones. I am a former devoted user of Sony MDR-W08L headphones and was unhappy for years that Sony stopped making them. MDR-AS210s' side-firing in-ear earbuds make the headphones very similar to MDR-W08Ls -- the only difference being that they use your ears instead of the top of your head for support. I just hope the MDR-AS210's cord doesn't easily lose its electrical connection to the earbuds, like the MDR-W08L's cord used to do (as a result of being pulled inadvertently). There was a workaround fix for that problem, but I didn't learn about it in time and ended up repurchasing MDR-W08L headphones many times as a result. A key advantage of side-firing in-ear earbuds is that they don't block external sounds like rubber earbuds do, enabling me to easily hear others without having to take off the headphones first. I don't have the problem that some other reviewers did -- having to modify the MDR-AS210's loop hangers to fit properly. The loop hangers fit over my ears just fine. The price on Sony headphones has been consistently very reasonable over the years. MDR-AS210s cost not much more than MDR-W08Ls cost a decade ago. I find the sound quality of Sony's side-firing in-ear earbuds to be good to very good. Since these aren't Bluetooth headphones, there is no battery to charge, and I don't mind the cord.

I use these for running and they last me about a year. I’m on my 3rd pair. These are the best headphones I’ve ever had for staying in your ears while running. No other types will stay in for me. They do eventually stop working after about a year (usually one side goes out, then I replace them), but I’ve had the same thing happen in several other more expensive headphones (even waterproof ones) so I think it’s just because of how much I sweat and how frequently I use them. For about $15-$20, they’re a good value. And I never have to fidget with them once I put them on. They aren’t noise cancelling headphones, just FYI.

I don't like wireless ear buds for a few reasons (they don't fit me well, they're expensive, easy to lose, and you have to constantly charge them). I wanted something simple and cheap for working out, running, walking, etc. These Sony earphones have been absolutely perfect. I have two pairs (I thought I lost one, so I bought another, and then found them), the older of which is probably 4-5 years old now and they're still working flawlessly after near daily use. Good sound quality, very comfortable (I often forget I'm wearing them), and very durable. Add to that the fact that they're supremely cheap and don't need charging and you have a winner!

I have previously purchased a headset. That last for more than 3 years, even with my rough handling. So, when I thought to buy a new one, I do not need another thought. The only issue was with the soft ear clip, but now in this version, it is strengthened.
