Q: My bed is 30" high and my dogs are 5 & 6 lb Yorkies what are the dimensions of the risers ?

The last step before the bed is 29" to the top of the step. The risers are about 6". I have several Yorkies ranging in weights from 2.5lbs to 8 lbs and ALL of them use the steps to get up on my rather tall sleigh bed. They have no problem whatsoever going up or down. I have had a couple other steps, but this stair from Pet gear are durable, stable and well worth the money. I would buy them again without a doubt =)

Q: what is the depth of each step. I have read that many of these are too shallow for the dog to trust stepping into it. thanks

Each step is 7.5" from front to back (start of next step). Our 20lb Jack Russel / Chihuahua sometimes sits on the steps and over time she has been using the stairs more and more. I can't comment if these are good for bigger dogs but definitely good for her size.

I think it will. The steps are quite deep so they can get their body on each step. I saw these at my breeder's...she also has a German Shepherd. That dog used them as well. I am pleased with these steps.
