It was also easy for me to put together. Good instructions! We put the beets in the top and in the top tiers. I also have flowers, strawberries, cucumbers, squash, mint, and other herbs. I used to garden but due to age and replacements can't kneel or bend like I used to so this is a God sent for me. It rotates so if one side needs more sun than the other, you can turn it. For higher performance, start with a full lb (about 1000) composting worms and do a little reading on how to feed a vermicompost systems online. So long as your daytime temperatures are still hitting 50 degrees on average, the worms will thrive and consume a surprising amount of compostable scraps every day. You can shelter them over the winter in a cool moist location or actually use them in a home-made bin if you have the space. Depending on where you live, you may be able to keep your worms in the tower year round, or just replace them in the spring. I would suggest you can add up to 1/2 gallon of cut vegetable scraps a day once the compost column is really thriving. **Q: Would it be possible to move it inside over winter?** A: Absolutely, we bought a couple of L. E. D. shop lights from the Building Centre... About $110 and mounted them vertically on plywood strips with a wood base. This winter we enjoyed fresh lettuce, kale, parsley, basil and carrots all wwinter. It has been great! We are located on the Canadian prairies and had the lights on about 16 hours a day. My chair rises enough that I can reach the top, though not easily. I have had wonderful artichokes, chard, several lettuces, spinach,basil, mint, kale, also a few pretty flowers. We put in the red wiggler worms in the center tube and feed them our food scraps, along with wet egg cartons and cut up news paper. they crawl into the dirt surrounding them in the planter and fertilize it. I wish I coulod help more Freeman, but that's as much as I can do. I hope you can purchase one. Do be fure it will get plenty of sunshine. One side of mine gets less, but is doing well. Enjoy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Problem with product shipped but manufacturer took care of problem - great customer service *by K***A on March 17, 2017* Great idea. Disappointing quality control on the unit I received.. Many of the "pegs" (which fit into the grow ring below) were warped out of shape and had sharp protruding plastic distortions which prevented a fit. I was forced to trim several with a knife to get rid of the rough edges so that they would fit into the corresponding holes. It's like nobody checked before it was shipped. I eventually was able to get rid of the plastic distortions and put it all together, but you shouldn't have that issue with a product as expensive as this. There's no way to know if this is a common or "one-off" problem. The design seems good, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs here in Hawaii. But my assembly experience was terrible. Update 1: the people at Garden Tower Project responded proactively and took care of the problem. Update 2: they've made even more of an effort of outreach to take care of the issues.
