Good gen for the price
After three outages in ten months, I bit the bullet and purchased the Westinghouse WGen7500DFc in mid July 2023 from Amazon for $799. The gen arrived a little later in the day than promised but it wasn’t a problem. The driver placed it inside my garage and there was no visible damage to the box. Opening the box, I found everything intact and undamaged. The wheels were easily installed as were the rubber feet. I plan to NOT use gasoline as I own no other gas powered machines other than my car. I am lazy and don’t want the hassle of stabilizing gas, cleaning the float bowl, etc. I have multiple 20# LP tanks on hand. After filling the oil, connecting the battery and connecting the LP tank with the included hose, I pushed the START button and the gen fired right up with no hesitation. I let it run 5 minutes then hit the START button to stop it. It stopped with no issue. I pressed the START button on the key fob and again, it started right up. I let the unit run for 4 hours straight. At various times during the break in period, I added devices to put a load on it as recommended in other reviews. The gen ran smoothly and there were no oil leaks. The next day, I started it with the pull cord and it started in two pulls. After the break in period, I changed the oil and used synthetic 5W30 instead of the supplied 10W30. I want no issues in the dead of winter if needed. So far, I’m very happy with it and can’t wait for an outage! PROS Dual fuel More than enough power for my fridge, freezer and furnace. Delivery inside my garage. Rolls easily using the fold down handle. Oil change was easy. Digital meter tells when service is needed for spark plug, filters, etc. The CO sensor shut down the gen when I tested it with the shed door closed. CONS It’s loud! I have it in a well ventilated shed. It’s heavy. 220# or so The oil drain plug is 12MM not 10MM as indicated in the instructions. There is no crush washer with the oil drain plug as indicated in the instructions. There haven’t been any leaks without it though. MEH The fob. Not sure what the point of the fob is. To use it, you’d have to leave the propane tank valve open or the gasoline valve open, both of which are NO-NOs when the gen is not being used. Ken Koren Rockville, IN

Excellent dual-fuel generator
Bought the wgen7500dfc as a propane 6750/8550 watt replacement and upgrade for my 6000/8250 watt gasoline generator. The dual fuel option would allow running on gasoline if for some reason propane is not available. The generator would be used outside so the CO monitor was unnecessary; I would have preferred a generator without one but at the time this was the only model available. After setup, tried the following features: battery start, remote start, recoil start, propane fuel, gasoline fuel, 120V and 240V outlets. Everything worked. I was impressed that the owner's manual contained not only intelligible detailed instructions, but also exploded parts diagrams for every part of the generator, and a wiring diagram. According to my experience, finding such documentation means finding a high quality product. I unbonded the neutral from the frame. This was made difficult by a short jumper cable but still doable. The manual called for an initial 5 hour runtime during which load should not exceed 50% of capacity, so did a simulated house power failure for 5 hours during which the generator powered lights, freezer, refrigerator, computers, a single stove burner, varying the load. With this load, about one pound of propane was used every 30 minutes. I later powered a 1 HP well pump, then a water heater with 4500w elements. The only significant problem I ran into was that my Maruson UPS objected to the generator power input, frequently going to battery power, apparently because the generator power frequency was too high, as high as 63.8 Hz. For anyone having the same problem: it is possible to adjust the frequency although not described in the owner's manual. See the picture of the adjustment screw. I adjusted the screw counterclockwise in small steps until the VFT meter (use the mode button to display frequency) showed a range of 59.8 to 60.4 Hz. I didn't hear the UPS complain after this.

Simple to use, seems well built!
The Important Stuff: This seems like a good generator. I liked the ease of assembly, the accessories (oil funnel just made it easier to fill the engine w/the supplied oil. I tested all 3 start options (electric push to start, key fob start/stop, and traditional pull to start), and they worked great! I am hoping this generator lasts a longer time, and will keep checking in on it to make sure there are no issues, as generators in general just need to be maintained, like any other equipment, as long as nothing is DOA. My reasons for buying: After a recent Power Outage, our old generator finally bit the bullet. So, after reading reviews, I decided to order this as we are currently having a number of outages, and I incubate poultry eggs. More than a few hours, and all of those eggs in an incubator & brooder chicks can be a huge loss (18-28 days to hatch, then gotta stay heated at least 3-4 weeks until they can handle cooler temps). So, along with fridge, freezer, fans, bird equipment, and a few other things, this generator should fit my needs!

Follow instructions carefully
I believe this is a very good machine and will serve me well when I need it. Haven’t got the Fob to work yet but it will happen I’m sure. The CO sensor works very well. I have a small shed for my generator which you can see in the picture background. When the muffler was pointed to the inside of the shed it kept shutting off. When I placed the generator totally outside, it started right up. Make sure that the generator is level. It wasn’t at first and not enough gas was getting to the carb. Make sure you turn the gas feed stopcock ON and if it’s a cold start like my first one, I turned the choke all the way toward the front handle. When I did all that, it cranked right up and stayed on no problem. No sensor lights came on. You see a wire connected on my picture because I’m recharging the battery. Used the battery at least 10 or twelve times yesterday and it still had plenty of charge today. I used to have a generac which served me well for years and the motor was fine, but it was able to supply a charge and wasn’t worth fixing. The 30A twist lock receptacle is different than the one I had on my generac and that line goes directly to my circuit breaker board, so I will have to get a new twist on plug. Not looking forward to using it when I need it because I don’t want to lose power, but will be glad to have this generator available with the battery start and option of propane or gas when I need it.Also, the handle and the wheels are fantastic to have and work well since it is a heavy machine.

I really like it
This was super easy to set up, and the directions were easy to follow. The wheels couldnt be easier to install. I filled it with oil, and then filled the gas tank. The remote start is attached to the gasoline on/off toggle. You cant miss it because you have to flip it on. It took about 5 electric start presses to fill the fuel line, and start up. It ran very smooth. I then set up the propane tank, switched over to it, and it started right up too. I mixed Mechanic in a Bottle with the gasoline, and that will keep water out of the fuel for a year or more. I havent used it beyond this yet, but I am ready for the inevitable power outages. This will power my whole house.

Easy to use, easy to move & powers the whole house
Purchased this generator as a whole-house backup for power outages. I know nothing about electricity or generators. I hired someone to put in a 30 amp generator inlet to make this easier to 'plug n play'. Instructions for set-up and first-time use were extremely easy to follow. The tow handle makes this so easy to maneuver, despite it's weight. Easier to push around than a lawn mower. I am a small lady and had no trouble at all. Electric start was easier than starting a car. I also used the fob start and the pull start and both worked easily. I did not find it louder than most generators I've been around. As I added load, it hardly choked down at all, even with chest freezer, fridge, well water pump, boiler, and the entire house (except range, dryer and water heater). I turned off all breakers and just ran water heater, and it hummed away happily. So we can get the water tank hot, then turn that back off and turn the whole house back on for a hot shower in those multi-day outages. Love it, can't wait for the next power outage!
