I purchased this DVD player for my son who is still an infant and sometimes a Mickey Mouse DVD is all that will calm him down. We were going on a six hour road trip and decided to purchase the DVD player to help keep him calm during the long ride. The DVD player is lightweight which is nice, it bends well and I don't feel like I'm going to break it everytime I move the screen, the picture looks great and the sound is pretty good for it's size. My only reason for dropping a star was because it is very slow starting sometimes even with full power. There was once when he was fussing we were waiting so long for it to play the movie that we thought there was something wrong with it. We checked the DVD, everything was fine there. Sometimes it powers up immediatly and one thing I love about it, it starts where you left off even if you turn it off. As long as the DVD is still in the player it will bring you back to where you were. I have not used the remote with this DVD player so I cannot comment on the quality. I feel as though this is a good quality product and I would recommend it, especially for children- just beware of the lag in starting the movie. If your child is impatient there may be consequences of it taking too long to load.

Pros: Picture: Nice quality and resolution both on device screen and via AV cable to TV. Sound: Sufficient on watching through the unit. (Note: When watching using AV cables turn sound to 20 so that output is full and enable full volume adjustment via your TV remote.) Battery: Was able to easily watch an entire movie and listen to a full CD without running out of battery. Remote Control: Lots of buttons so locating what you need may take a little extra time and getting used to but works well. (Note if you pause the DVD or CD the system may hibernate or go to screensaver so the first time you press “play” there will be a slight lag as the device wakes. Pressing play a second time will resume play.) Quality: Device and remote are on par with other similar devices. Unit is light weight and easily portable and comes with home, vehicle power and AV cables. Cons: Remote Control: Audio: When listening to DVD or CD on headphones noticed sound of the machine functioning… a slight tick-tick/whirring in the background. You can really hear it with a CD during silent periods in between songs. I would assume if you listened to an audio book you would hear as well and potentially could be disruptive to listening. Did not notice this when connected via AV cord to TV. (I did not find it to be a distraction as the music or movie did mask the sound many times and once focused on music or movie sounds it was not as prevalent. Some people may find it comes to their audible forefront and could be intolerable.) Other: No USB or SD functionality was tested for this review.

I like to use an exercise DVD daily (also available on Amazon - Classical Stretch). At home I use the player that is connected to the TV. Anyway in early May I went on a trip and took the DVD - but both relatives I visited did not have DVD players so I ordered the DBPower Portable DVD player based on it's reviews. It arrived 2 or 3 days before a scheduled trip. I spent about 10 minutes testing it out and although it seemed a little slow to respond to the DVD disc, it worked and seemed pretty versatile (shows jpg pictures and plays music off of a flash drive) so I gave it a 5. Just hours before my trip there was an emergency in the family so the trip got cancelled. It's a long story but the next few months were a blur of taking care of aspects of the emergency and getting caught up at home. Finally about 3 weeks ago things started slowing down. I took the DVD player with me on a short trip and it would not play DVDs! It would play music off the USB. I called Amazon but I didn't fall into their 30 day return policy. They sent me a link to contact the seller, but the link didn't work (it was too old). So I came back on Amazon and changed my 5 rating to a 1. I thought maybe that would get their attention - and they would contact me. Anyway, a little later I remembered they had emailed about the time the device arrived wanting to know if it arrived and was okay and fortunately I had not deleted the email. So, I emailed that email address and I must say their customer service was great from then on. In less than a week I had a new DVD player. I tested out the new unit and it worked great. It responds much faster than the first unit that was faulty. I was very impressed by their customer service. I know a week ago when I was feeling kinda blue that I had an expensive paperweight with no recourse, I read someone else's review about not being able to get through to their customer service. The original unit was bought in May, because of all the family issues the problem wasn't discovered till October, but I was able to get the problem solved. I'd suggest making a folder in your email program and saving the emails from the manufacturers/sellers in case you have a problem like mine. Anyway, I changed my 1 rating back to a 5 again. I'm a happy camper and glad they have such good customer service!

First off this is my very first portable DVD player, so far I am very satisfied with this product. The picture is very clear definitely HD and looks At least 1080i. The whites and blacks really pop, so look no further this is a steal. The 16:9 and 4:3 ratio such a blessing. I like that you can adjust the hue, saturation, brightness, sharpness, contrast. Also you can even change the audio settings for 2.1 or 5.1. Lets move on to the audio quality, so how does it sound? The speakers have a great emphasis on the highs and no lows, but it sounds great. I don't know yet how it sound with headphones or a external speaker setup. The main reason I bought this was so I could play cds through my Klipsch 2.1 Promedia setup, which I will be buying at the end of the month. I will be updating later to further comment on the quality of that setup. Moreover, lets talk about the build quality. Firstly, it's so light in weight and it looks really good like it has a gloss paint job, I really like the black. The buttons are not to stiff or to Loose. In conclusion this is a great buy in video and audio. Should you buy it I would highly recommend. God bless you! Update I I really love this DVD player, but I encountered a issue when using head phones. There is a background noise when playing movies. Moreover, I called Amazon regarding my problem with the player, so they told me to contact Asurion. They are the company that I bought a 4 year extended warranty from, for I purchased the warranty off Amazon. Asurion assisted me well they told me that they cannot help tell the manufacturer warranty expires. They also told me that Amazon is responsible for the problem since I just bought the item from them less than a week. Furthermore, I contacted Amazon back they refunded me the money and had me return the product. In conclusion this is still one of the greatest purchases of Amazon, so with the refund money I will be buying the product again. I will be updating this review soon. Update 2 I received my 2nd DVD player and it did the same thing with the sound, for when movies and music have lower volume within the frame work of the sounds, vocals no beackground music. The important thing is how did it sound with my 2.1 Promedia Klipsch THX computer speakers, it's 149.99 it sounded better than the theater. Thank you I will be updating this after a while.

A "Lightning Deal" offer enticed me to buy this item. On the positive side: Unlike the Sylvania 'portable DVD player" I purchased on Amazon last year, this DBPOWER DVD player has a volume level that can be easily heard and adjusted. However, the design of the remote control is less than ideal (especially perhaps in providing more than what may be needed if you merely want simple DVD play functions). This product offers more than simple playing of DVDs. The remote (requiring insertion of 2 AAA batteries, not provided) has small gray buttons with white lettering and numbers close together in11 rows, with 4 buttons across each row. The markings on the buttons may be considered hard to read by some. Some button functions may be considered difficult to decipher and, also, challenging for error-free access. The markings do not mirror the function keys on the DVD player suggesting a design intention to supplement. This is the first portable DVD player I have had for which I believe the "User Manual" a necessity for beyond basic operation (and functions can readily be sorted out). Page 6 of the manual addresses "PANEL KEYS"; pages 7-8 address "KEY FUNCTIONS." At page 7 the manufacturer notes: "some of the following buttons are only on the remote, some are only on the unit and some are on both the unit and the remote." The manufacturer then, despite helpful intentions, lists all keys and functions without differentiating between the player and the remote and without identifying where one finds the key for each of the co-mingled listed functions. For basic DVD player functions -- power, play, mute, pause, etc.., this is not as simplified as perhaps could and should be possible. (See remote control key at page 6 of the Manual -- 34 buttons identified by number with corresponding diagram of remote control.) This product provides good value. If you want the options provided you likely won't be disappointed. I particularly like this product because the sound level can meaningfully be adjusted without requiring use of headphones.

This product is very well made and extremely easy to use! I have just recently been in and out of the emergency room several times and it was a lifesaver! I have great-grandchildren grandchildren and children down with the flu And I was the first one to get sick. I cannot tell you what a pleasure this product is When you are staring at the wall with active children around you. The picture quality is excellent. It is so easy to use my 6 year old great grandson was turning it on and under my supervision doing basic operations. It comes complete with all cabling and everything you need. Thank God it was even pre-charged. We have literally spent hours watching excellent quality for a very reasonable price. Nurses and other mothers were asking what it was and where they could get it. I of course told them. It hooks up very easily To a large television set with a simple cable that comes with it. So I was able to watch ito my chest, in the car and When I got home, on my large television. Customer service could not be better and they are very pleasant. If you have a college student or Other person with limited space, this is an excellent gift. I would definitely buy more in the future and highly recommend It for value and quality.

Great product

This player was excellent from right out of the box. On a full charge, had about 4-5 hours battery life. Colours on screen were bright and clear. Machine runs quietly and sound is clear and loud . Very glad to purchase this at a reasonable price, would've paid more for it ,it was full of features other dvd players don't have or are overpriced. Great value!

Bought this dvd player to listen to cds in my 2020 SUV with no CD player, it works great for this (you need a 3.5 Aux Cable) also plays movies and hand held Game boy (You will need Double Female RCA Adaptor for Games) sounds nice through the car speakers with a nice Clear picture on the DVD player The remolt control works great from any angle in the car. Played two movies and one DOA cd at high volume, before the low on battery warning light came on. I Like this DVD Player, It works great with everything and well built. My only Issue with this DVD player is i Payed Top Dollar for this, As it was Getting Delivered to me, It went on sale $$$ around 75% cheaper then i payed. Bummer! Should i send it back for refund, order the one on sale and wait too long for the all the shipping time for this to Western Canada. or just Keep it, Knowing its a Great DVD Player at that ??? me so sad
