Since 1911, Tony Lama has been crafting legendary western boots. As a soldier and cobbler for the U. S. Cavalry at Fort Bliss, Texas, Tony Lama's expertise as a custom boot maker spread quickly among cowboys and ranchers throughout the Southwest. Today, these legendary boots blend that superior craftsmanship with modern technology. This El Paso Collection boot for him features a worn tan Saigets goatskin leather foot under a 13" matching leather shaft. Subtle stitching and embroidery details shaft. Single stitched full welt. Pointed toe and 1 5/8" cowboy heel with rubber grip surface.

Good boots, in fact excellent boots for the money - just check the size
I like cowboy boots, but good ones are hard to find here in the UK. I'm normally a devotee of Frye boots and have three pairs of their cowboy boots (Billy and Bruce), however they did not seem to make a "proper" cowboy boot in a tan colour at the time I wanted these. So I decided to try out a pair of these Tony Lama boots instead, since their reputation over in the US seems to be good. These are nice boots. They are very distinctive, with the sharply pointed snip toe and brown leather stacked heels and welts. The leather sole is really nicely made, a match for my more expensive Fryes, and the heels feature hard rubber caps which make that satisfying thunk as you walk along, the unique sound that tells everyone around that you're wearing cowboy boots. You feel good walking in them and wearing them, and if the noise does draw other people's attention you can be proud that they'll see some really nice-looking boots. The toe stitching is subtle, and while I only ever wear my jeans over my boots and never tucked in, if you're someone who does you can know you're showing off some very nicely stitched shafts too. The leather itself is beautifully soft and the distressed appearance of them gives a really cool relaxed vibe. These are boots to wear with some faded jeans you've had for years and a vintage T-shirt, or perhaps some nice pale-blue jeans and a plain T-shirt tucked in to show a subtle belt. Some boots can look a little like they're trying too hard, particularly for a twenty-something young man like myself, but not these. They have a slim silhouette and as such are better suited to my Wrangler 936 slim fit jeans rather than my Levis, they just look better. As far as wearing them goes, the news is slightly less good. Had I had the benefit of trying them before buying - not easy when having them shipped to another country! - I'd have bought half a size up, or possibly a wider size than these. They are a little tight, and I have to wiggle my feet into them - not badly, but they don't just pull straight on. It's not the length that seems to be the problem but the width, and I have heard that TLs are a little narrow, on just this one pair I would agree. Having said that, once they're on they are very comfy, the soft leather needing minimal break-in, although the maker's tag on the left boot strap can rub your leg at first. They are a little lighter than my Fryes, and don't feel quite so solidly constructed - oddly enough, I can actually run quite fast in my Frye Billys but despite the lighter weight it's not so easy in these. Still, that's fine, cowboy boots are not trainers/sneakers anyway.Would I buy them again? Yes, but in a slightly bigger size. Overall, I still slightly prefer the Frye equivalent, but these are somewhat cheaper and with that in mind they are excellent boots. As a day-to-day boot rather than a special occasion dress boot they have a great relaxed, casual look, but still feature the nice dress-style leather soles and uppers that make them look and feel like "grown-up" boots unlike some of the other fashion boots I've seen. Given the lower cost, I'd strongly consider a black pair of these to rotate with my black Fryes.EDIT; Six months after buying these, I'd probably upgrade my rating to 5-star. They still look as-new and have proved much tougher than I expected, and the pointed snip toe still looks awesome. I maintain that my various Fryes are the slightly better boots, all told, but Fryes are expensive - so for the money you really can't argue with these TLs at all.

Great looking and well made, but a bit too narrow
I love these new boots, but they're too small. Despite the fact that I measured my foot, studied the available sizes, went to the manufacturers website, read all the available information, re-measured my foot. Double-checked the available sizes. Did some more research on boot sizes, and measured my foot again. I then ordered a size bigger than I normally wear... Guess what? The boots are too tight. Just slightly too tight. I like the style, I like the color, I like the comfort and the well constructed build of the boots. Unfortunately, they are too narrow. Despite what appears to be boot standards in sizing, these boots run narrow when compared to the actual fit. If you can, you should try these on in a shoe store before you decide to buy a pair. I wish Tony Lama would say something about their sizes running small compared to accepted US boot sizes. They're not tight in the toe/length, but they are definitely too narrow. I can wear the boots, and I will wear them occasionally, but it's going to take a long time to break them in. With the fit being too narrow, there's no way I can wear these all day.

May need to order larger size than normal.
I had read that these boots are made a little narrow so I ordered a 1/2 size bigger instead of going wider. . After a couple days of wearing them they fit perfect. I donโt want to take them off and when I do I kinda just sit around and look at them They are great looking boots.. My only complaint is that one is a lot lighter color than the other as seen in the photo.

These boots are great. They look just as good with a suit ...
These boots are great. They look just as good with a suit as they do with a pair of jeans. The leather is so soft and the walk is very comfortable. Although I probably would have ordered my regular size had I not read the previous reviews. A couple of the reviews stat that they run small and felt tight so I ordered a half size larger. I wear a 9 1/2 so I ordered a 10, I wish I had ordered the 9 1/2 they are just a slight bit big. I think my regular size would have fit perfect. Nothing a thick pair of socks can't fix. If you order these you will enjoy them. They are a great looking pair of boots!

Tony Lama Men's Saigets Worn Goat 6979 Western Boot,Tan,9 EE US Tony Lama
This is my second set of Tony Lama Boots, and so I know that they fit a bit small. I ordered the 92E size, and let me say, these fit just fine. I am a 9E, so the 2E makes up for the tighter fit. Comfy beyond description. Looks like they are well made, and if they are anything like the first pair I have, then they are built rock solid. Cannot complain about MADE IN THE USA! They look great, they feel great, and best of all, they are priced great. Why spend hundreds more for other brands that charge up the wazoo, when Tony Lama makes such great boots!

STIFFER THAN WHAT I"M USED TO
This is my 5th set of Tony Lama Boots. I've had some pretty exotic ones, ostrich, eel, lizard and even a pair of elephant made over seas. This is the stiffest boot leather I've ever had to deal with. I'm older now so maybe I'm more sensitive but I do believe these are more for work than play. I'm not a working cowboy, I wear western boots because I like the cut, look, feel and there is nothing better to dance in. I'm going to mink oil these and see how that works. I'm hoping the finish wont get too dark. More latter after a good mink oil rub.Almost two years latter the exposure of the plastic toe tips has forced me to buy another set of boots. This set is dumpster bound. I really worked to try to keep these in shape and not exacerbate the toe problem, to no avail. Mink oil to soften the leather and maintain a certain level of water resistance, may not have helped, goat is pretty supple already. My initial rating has been reduced by two stars based on the overall life of the product.

A great boot
I had read other reviews suggesting the boots run a little small. I ordered a size a half inch larger than other boots I have worn. I was glad to have done so. I was excited to have been able to order a narrow width as well. I could have probobly done with a slightly wider size but they seem to be loosening up a bit as I break them in.I am very pleased with the product as a whole and highly recromend them for someone interested in a different looking boot.
