Life After Death: A Novel: Volume 2 (The Winter Santiaga Series)

This book is not the coldest winter ever part 2,but it was still a good read. I will be honest I did read the end of each chapter then read the beginning and middle because it was abit slow in places but I'm glad I finished it. Also Winter was moving mad abit but she eventually got it.. Thank God because she was worrying me 😂

What an absolute waste of time! I waited years for this book and am extremely disappointed! Not to add any spoilers but the setting of the book is maad weird. Sista Soulja must've been going through some spiritual thangs at the time of writing this. It's too much! If you looking for something like the coldest winter ever or even like midnight or any of the others, this is not it. I kept going hoping it would change, even read the last chapter but it was too much for me. The fact there was no blurb along with the title should've been warning enough. Selling it on ebay if anyone is interested, until then I'll be keeping it in the freezer. Absolutely terrible.

I bought this book as a gift for my friend and she loves it.

I loved coldest winter. I. Struggling to get into this one. O won't give it away but im not loving the first few chapters so far. I've read all the others Midnight's story and Porsche. So my expectations were pretty high. I'm as i get deeper into the book it'll click and I can enjoy the this one as I was looking forward the 3rd book

Ok ok I get why some people are mad at the book as it calls itself a sequel but is another genre entirely. For the first few chapters I wondered if souljah was high on psychedelics when writing this??? But by halfway through I was hooked. This was unputdownable. TCWE was an amazing cult classic that resonated with black girls in urban areas all over the world. Although it was a cautionary tale we admired winter, who at seventeen was around the same age as me when I first read her story. But twenty years on to provide the same type of hood literature to the audience that is also now twenty years older would’ve been bizarre. Are we really buying hardcovers about n*gg@$ driving fly whips and busting guns in our thirties?? Souljah had a hard task. I think she rose to it. She provided the same Winter and she blurred genre lines in the style of Jordan Peele to deliver something completely unexpected. She had a strong message that is actually totally in line with her nonfiction work. My only criticism is the strong Muslim leaning; without spoiling I felt the portrayal of the nuns in the convent was unnecessarily offensive. An interesting read! But if you’re looking for a TCWE II you will be disappointed.

Definitely a sister souljah book

This book was probably the strangest, most bizarre book I have ever read in my entire reading life... and it was amazing! I will admit that at first, I was like, “WTF is this?! Who asked for this? We did not need a sequel.” It started off on a note I wasn’t expecting at all. Fantasy is not my genre of choice. BUT I stuck with it and was rewarded, at least to me, for my patience. This book is ahead of it’s time, way WAY ahead of its time. It’s so well crafted and mapped out. Weird and extremely uncomfortable to read at times. I got frustrated with Winter and hoped she wouldn’t eff what little progress she’d make in a chapter only for her to disappoint and eff things up anyway. But her character arc was real, raw, flawed, and consistent. If you do the disservice of starting and not finishing this book, you miss out in a major way. I initially was disappointed at Winter’s lack of growth for the majority of the story, but eventually she got it. I read TCWE as a teen and loved Winter. But when I reread the story again as an adult, I became super aware of how selfish and ugly she was. When I heard there would be a sequel, I was hyped to see if Winter changed, if she grew because she didn’t seem to have matured in the minor scene she appeared in, in Porsche’s story. I was almost sad Winter didn’t show growth at the start or middle of the book, but girlfriend arrives at the end. The religious aspect in this story will always be up for debate but I loved it for Winter, sis needed it. Sister Souljah remains one of my favorite authors. What she did here was brilliant and on a third eye level. If this story proved anything to me, it’s that she’s a visionary.

Just OK, but there were some parts where it was slow and boring. Wasn't really that great a read, but depends on the reader. I found the style of writing was just not that intriguing and I had to persevere - I did put it down a few times! Some fans maybe disappointed....

This book spoke to my soul. I read this book with my higschool friends (we also read the 1st one together) and the depth and growth of the evolution of the characters and the author - was honestly inspiring for us. Kudos Sista Souljah , you definitely did that! Buy it !!!!!

I enjoyed this book. It was very descriptive, and mind bending. If you are interested in the afterlife, the possibilities one may encounter, I suggest you read this book. I couldnt believe the information that was placed in here. There are so many levels one can relate to. This book may change your life, well your soul, or not, only if you love the darkness.

I absolutely LOVEDDDD this book. I feel as if a lot of the negative reviews are from people who have not evolved at all after 15 years. I believe people were expecting this book to be about Winter and her hood antics at her big age. Which it still is in a way. If you’ve never read Midnight Series & even Porsche’s story you wouldn’t get or like this book. (I smiled sooo hard when Midnight & Chiasa were mentioned) Also I seen a review that said this doesn’t even seem like Souljah wrote this book and I had to laugh. Souljah is a teacher. Even a healer. If you’ve watched any interviews or even read the character analysis in the back of “the coldest winter ever” you would understand that Souljah is not here to glorify thug love, hood antics, bad bi**hes, etc. She wants us as black people to analyze our life, our choices, and think about how it affects our community and ourselves. This book is full of symbolism and knowledge. I’m going to read it again & slower this time. It’s literally about Life after Death and gives you some things to think about! The only con I have is that I believe Souljah tries to push being a Muslim on us, but if you believed as strongly as she does in her faith, I get it. It’s most definitely made me more knowledgeable on the religion. Thank you Souljah & I hope you give us a 4th book in the Midnight series❤️❤️
