Can you use it on wet hair?

Crimping Iron will work best on clean hair. Allow your hair to air dry or blow dry it completely as crimping wet hair is absolutely a big No! Using a heated crimping iron on wet hair could cause damage to your follicles and lead to breakage.

Is it normal for it to smoke ?

Mine has never smoked and I have had it for some months now and use it almost every day. I do not think it is ok for it (or any other similar device) to smoke. Good luck with it!
