Leather Honing Wheel Fits 6 in. Bench Grinders and Polishers

This leather strobe wheel is of excellent quality. Using it to buff out knives. With a little buffing compound, it does an excellent job and it’s balanced right out of the box pretty well.. Very happy with the quality. We’ll find out how well it lasts with some use.

I used a low speed grinder wen and cut wide side support on both sides 3/4 to the top of the wheel and made sure the grinder was one that did not exceed 1700 rpm. The other side I mounted a firm polishing pad and then removed all safety plates as I was going to use it for knives. This way the plates flex but don’t move much but as one side is heavier than the other it has to be bolted down. Then reversed the mount so that the wheels turn away from me. With knives safety guards can be very dangerous because if the knife gets jammed in one it can be thrown through a wall. But with fine diamond paste it took several minutes off final sharpening. Generally worth the money but I do understand what speed works and what doesn’t I would not put this on a regular speed grinder as mine is 1.5 HP 3,500 RPM would be more dangerous than time saving. It saves me from having to buy a 100000 grit whet stone and does the work in seconds. A fine whet stone can take 15 minutes and I sharpen 1500 knives a week so it paid for itself.

Installed on 1hp grinder. Makes my freshly ground blades razor sharp.

This leather stropping wheel works perfectly on my Bucktool Low Speed bench grinder. It’s a great final step for knife sharpening. It fits perfectly and has no wobble. It’s very easy to install with the included adapter.

I use this and the Tormek paste to strop my knives after they've been sharpened on an abrasive belt. I had been doing it for years, by hand, and the combination of these two products has taken the process from a time-consuming - almost chore - to a lightning quick step to a razor-edged blade.
