Not square.
Not a single stone was square and flat. Every single stone side was dished and damaged. Resulting in very poor performance. I was also missing the knife sharpening guide. I have since replaced this with a diamond sharpening stone and the difference isn't even in the same league.

A well-priced whetstone set
This is a well-priced whetstone set, at the time of my review it would cost you £38.99. You get two stones, each of which has two different grades of stone which are bonded back-to-back – one stone is 400/1000 grit and the other is 3000/8000 grit. Each stone has a rubberised base which can be swapped, this holds it safely in the wooden holder – the wooden holder also has a non-slip base so that it won’t move about at as you are sharpening away. A sharpening guide which is included makes sure that your blades are ‘dressed’ to the right angle, to give them the best sharpness.Using this whetstone set is a great way to get a good edge on your knives, using a steel will keep them ‘keen’ as you use them. Prior to getting this set I was using one of the ceramic ‘V’ type sharpeners, they did a decent job but I found that they took a lot of metal of off the knives which would affect their lifetime.I’m very happy with this whetstone set and can recommend.

Professional whetstone
This is all you need to get your knives super sharp. It is a well thought out dew that works incredibly well. The rubber base stops slipping, the guide helps you get the angle right for a super sharp blade. It is heavy, hardwearing and will last.I have several expensive knives which I consider something special, it they need to be sharp to be be any good, this whetstone is exactly what I needed to keep them in the best condition and I use it on each knife after using it because I am a firm believer that a little and often is better than a lot every once in a while.I use a little water and the knife “flows” along the stone effortlessly taking off a tiny amount and getting the edge sharp. It’s simple, efficient and effective.

These are quite large
These are quite large and chunky. They also work very well. Last time I used a sharpener like this was about 20 years ago but I remember how sharp knives become after a session with these whetstones so I was very careful handling the knives afterwards. And, my oh my, are these working! I am not a specialist so I will not be able to advise as per huge difference between the 'grain size', but I assume one set is for smaller knives and sharper edges, and the other is for chunkier ones. I am impressed by both and I am using them very gently, for a short few seconds. that works for me and I am happy with the effect.
