Looks good, but not sure it works
The product lit up and looked really good, the ants didn’t survive for very long though. Not convinced by the gel as food.

My granddaughter really likes it
Expensive for what it is, but my granddaughter really loves it,

Very disappointing
This item looks great but all of my baby ants have got stuck in the blue slime and all have died. I only have the queen left and now need to buy a new home for her and hopefully she will survive. Waste of money do not buy.

Misleading
Good quality but a little misleading. The “coupon for live ants” only offers a discount and despite selling the terrarium globally, the ants themselves can only be shipped within the US. There are additional hidden costs associated with this product, so I would advise thorough research before purchasing

You cannot get the ants if you are in UK
If you live in the UK and you don’t want to have the additional cost of sourcing and paying for ants separately I would buy an ant kit that is from the UK and not this one. The cost of the whole product is supposed to cover the ant farm and a voucher to order your ants. I wasn’t expecting the additional cost as it’s advertised that it included a voucher for your ants. It isn’t easy finding ants randomly that are inexpensive to purchase alone! The product is nice but annoying we have a farm and no ants 😂

Dodgy light
Turned up and when opened the light did not work due to a dodgy connection

Unethical
Gel ant farms are just plain unethical, the ants will either drown in the gel, starve, suffocate as this set up has no ventilation or be infected by the rapid build up of mould. If you want to give your kids some ants, just use a jar and soil. If you want to actually keep a colony, do research into how to keep them long term, do not attempt to use this.

Great product!
My kid has severe bug phobia. I got her this as exposure therapy. She’s totally good with them being in her room.

Kids loved it
We bought this as a compromise gift for my son who wanted a pet turtle 😂 The ants were easy to order and most arrived alive (though that's a completely unrelated purchase) so we started with close to 50 ants on August 16. We followed instructions and bored a few small holes and let the ants do the rest. the attached photo is Dec 12 when the last ant died. we did have to remove a good bit of the material the ants dug up as well as some of the dead bodies through the process, but overall a very easy process. I strongly warn against using the LED lights for very long. my son left them on overnight one day and the gel started to weep around the sides, ants were distressed and the overall colony was not thriving. we cleaned it up, aired them out and they were good as new.

Fun for a while
So, I'm a 40 year old man who always wanted an ant farm as a kid. I finally bought this one, and have enjoyed it. I ordered some ants from the website in the packaging (I think the ants were about $5 for 20 of them), and tossed them in there and enjoyed watching them get to work digging. The ants were active for a few weeks, but once they got all their tunnels dug, they pretty much just stand around looking bored, I guess I can't blame them. I've been thinking about setting them free, but they'd probably just get in a fight with the local ants. The power port on the bottom of mine is a little wonky and you have to wiggle it just right to get it to light up, but overall I'm happy. I like how the lid has a little plugged hole to dump the ants into (they come in the mail in a little test tube), so you don't have to take off the whole lid and try to dump the ants in before they start escaping; just hold the tube to the little hole and the ants will make their way in.

Super cool!
This thing is amazing! I got this for my children, but I think I love it even more than them. It’s super cool to see them tunnel and actually very therapeutic to watch LOL. Super easy and secure!

Had no luck keeping the ants alive
I tried at least different species of ants but none of them started digging tunnels before they died. First, we found ants outside and put them inside after starting a few tunnels for them. Two went inside them and died before coming out. The others died at the surface within a week. Maybe a week later the ants I ordered in the mail came through. These ants had power mouths compared to the local ants we used prior. If they clamped onto anything when trying to escape, it was difficult to remove them without ripping them in half. I cleaned out the dead ants before they arrived so I could introduce them to a clean environment. These ants only wanted to escape and didn’t have any interest in digging tunnels. I could leave the air hole open each day to allow fresh air in but still had no luck. My air conditioner is set to 72 degrees so I don’t think temperature was the problem. That being said, I also put blame on myself. Like with any pets, people should do their research and I didn’t. I’m sure if I studied ants more I could figure it out. It’s not always as easy as buying this product and putting ants in it though. The gel is now gross, so I’ll need to throw it away.
