Is the face shield metal mesh? Is the shield sturdy enough to stop a chainsaw from eating my face?

No, I my opinion the chainsaw will eat your face. It stops debris and smaller limbs from hitting your face and does a good job at that.

I wouldn’t buy this again. By a regular hardhat that you can attach a face shield to it would be a better product

"One size fits most" is a warning for humans with larger heads. Any users with a hat size in excess of 7-3/4? Does it fit you okay?

I have no idea but there is an adjustable strap in the helmet. I bought it for my grandson so size was not an issue sorry!

Does it stay on good without a chin strap?

Yes. The head band is adjustable and with the ear muffs down it stays on.
