You get two types; one that connects to your car's seat belt receiver and the other fits over your car's head rest. I've used both and they are equally good for securing my dog. I was using a car seat for my dog, but once he jumped out as I opened the passenger door and even though his harness was attached to his car seat, he was hanging from the seat. That scared me, so when I saw this type of protection leash, I eliminated the car seat. The straps are adjustable and have some stretchiness to allow movement of the dog.
