De'Longhi Oil filled Radiator Heater, 1500W Electric Space Heater for indoor use, portable room heater, Energy Saving, full room like office and bedroom with safety features, EW7707CM

After reading many of the reviews on Amazon, I purchased this delonghi heater. I can't be happier with its performance. I believe the more positive reviews are a result of using this heater as it was designed - to gradually maintain a slow heat in a small-mid sized enclosed room (say, 20x20 with 9' ceilings). If you want to quickly heat a large room with a blast of hot air, get something with a fan or turn up the thermostat.We use this heater at night. It does such an effective job of keeping our room at a comfortable 70F (even at lower settings), that we have programmed our central heat thermostat to go down to 60F at night. Of course, the effectiveness of the heater is also dependent on how well your house is insulated.There were some comments about the heater getting hot to the touch. Well, yes, of course it does - it's a heater! But even at it's highest setting, the metal is not sizzling. It is well insulated enough that you can touch it for a few seconds before it gets uncomfortable - plenty of time for the occasional times you may bump into it. At lower settings - this isn't even an issue.Why an oil-filled heater? It produces a very gentle heat without drying the air like a conventional ceramic or electric heater.Why the delonghi? Gentle heat without any sound. We purchased the Honeywell 7-Fin Oil-Filled Radiator Heater as well (they were out of stock of the delonghi), and while it heats fine, it creaks and cracks when you use it. I'm sure this is due to the metal expanding and contracting as it gets warmer and cooler. It's not a huge problem, but if you are a light sleeper, it may be an annoyance.The only downside I can think of is the wheels. Doesn't roll well on carpet - which is fine, we don't' move it much anyway. But overall, love the delonghi. We've had it for 2 weeks now and I hope it lasts this way for several years.

Burn wood in basement primarily to keep the floors warm which goes a long way to increasing warmth by retaining heat. Also use small Duraflame electric box heater and Lasko ceramic heater strategically placed in drafty locations - both set to 62 - just enough to keep the drafty spots less cold.Ran low on wood by end of Dec 2019 was very cold in Northeast - paid about $80. Delonghi oil filled radiator is the heavy lifter and star of the shiver show - has a chimneying effect with heatrising thru top. Two story home is like 1200 sq ft - living space is 600 sq ft w/9' ceilings - rest is blocked off. Using no wood or space heaters; if outside temp is 30-35 keeps entire drafty living space very warm between 65-70 depending on wind - iow space heaters do not come on. Even subfreezing temps works great but space heaters come on more when not burning. With burning have it set to low so hopefully will come on less. Unclear how the two settings work.If it were a closed off smaller space or well-insulated would be much warmer. Even allowing for floor being cold radiator still rocks. Unsure of the cost of electricity but is definately well worth it. Uses alot of power - have to shut off to use microwave or electric toaster oven.Just a regular short cord 5-6'- however have it plugged into a 1/2" thick heavy-duty outdoor-type power cord. Do not recommend using a regular extension cord - adapters fry and melt so a fire hazard. Any extension a safety hazard bc of length however have it plugged into wall outlet and bulk of cord is coiled under a side stand with rest extending diagonally 7-8' in low-traffic area close to center of room but warmth extends to rest of 600' 3 room living space. I cover cord with a rug to avoid tripping.Fortunately didn't experience the negative reviews - plugged it in - braced self not knowing what would happen. Just filled room with comforting warmth quicker than expected - kept it plugged in all winter - kitty loves it. Puts paws under radiator and snuggles on pad I put there for him. This needs to be kept plugged in if necessary and heat regulated with controls. As to the popping sound, there is barely audible clicking so for me it's not noisy and sleep in same room as appliance. Lovit!

I was looking for a quiet, efficient heater to use in my sons bedroom at night. His bedroom is on the end of the house and usually 3 or 4 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. This heater did the trick.After reading numerous reviews I had mixed feelings on this. I basically bought it because the price was low enough that if it didn't work, I wasn't out a ton of cash. I'll just say I'm very pleased so far!Pros:Size - When I initially think radiator, I picture the giant iron ones from the old days. This is nice and compact and fits in nicely in the corner of the roomNoise - other than a little click when the "thermostat" goes on or off, there's no noiseHeat - gives off a nice, moist, calm heat. When I say moist and calm I'm comparing this to other electric heating elements that get red hot and use a a fan that tends to dry out a room in a hurry. This heater emits a nice gentle heat.Efficiency - You set the dial to the desired setting. The unit will heat to that point, then shut down, however it continues to residually heat the room without using any power. When it gets below a certain desired setting, it clicks back on to reheat itself.ConsThe instructions could explain how to use the temp dial and comfort-temp a little better.In addition, I'd like to attempt to clarify the "thermostat" issue. Reqading the reviews here confused me a bit as to what to expect.First off, there technically IS a thermostat....just not like the one you're probably used to. Theres a dial with numeric settings on it, not a temperature range like you would expect. It takes a bit of trial and error to get it where you like, but it's not terrible.1. There are 2 on/off switches. Right(low), left (medium), both (high). I can only explain these as the speed of how to get your unit to the desired temp. If you're not in a hurry, use low. If you want it to heat up faster, use medium, if you want it to temp as fast as possible, use both switches. Once the unit is to temperature, I only use the low setting to maintain a constant temp. This method seems most efficient.2. Using any of the 3 settings above, turn on the unit and start the dial at 1.3. After about an hour use a thermometer to note the room temp. (I use a cheap digital one I got from Walmart). If the temperature is what you desire, 1 is your setting. If not, go to #44. Turn the dial to 2 (or in between 1 and 2 if you have the time) and repeat step 35. Once your room is at the desired temp, thats your setting. I found that in order to keep my sons room at 72 degrees during the cold Chicago nights, I use setting 4. I cycle it back to in between 3 and 4 for when he naps during the day and the outside temp is a bit warmer.I'm very pleased with the accuracy as well. I leave the digital thermometer in his room 24/7. I randomly check it before I go to bed after he's sleeping and in the morning when he gets up. 9 out of 10 times it's right at 72 with the occasional 71 or 73.As for the comfortemp, I cant attest. I dont use it. It was so easy to find my temp range I didn't even bother with it.I also didn't experience and bad odors. Maybe it's because Im only using the lower settings and not cranking it up to heat a big room, but it went from the box to my sons room without having to melt off any coatings or things to that matter.I highly recommend this if you need a quiet,gradual, efficient source of heat.

I recently bought the same model that I bought from Amazon 11 years ago. One design flaw is that the AC cable is rigidly clamped with plastic where it comes out of the unit. Over the course of 11 years I snagged and tripped on the cable several times while moving it or walking over the cable, and it finally sheared off. I bought the same model a couple weeks ago so it would arrive before I had a chance to have the old unit repaired. Now that the old one is safely repaired and I have two units, I don't have to move one unit around in my house as much as I did. (and snag the cable) For both units I now wrap the AC cord one turn around the place where you can wind up all the cable, to act as strain relief. I never tried the Comfort Temp feature on my old unit because there were several Reviewers back then reporting issues with it. I have now tried it with my new unit and it works fine. I have not used it often enough to know if it gets a room to a "comfortable" temperature which is a matter of taste. It is slightly difficult to push the large button in to turn Comfort Temp ON or OFF, enough so that a couple of times when I wanted to turn it off and switch to only MED temp with the thermostat, I grabbed the hot side of the radiator to hold the unit while I pushed the difficult button. Now I maker sure to only hold the unit at the handle above the controls, duh. The manual isn't great and it didn't mention the initial burn in to remove the smell, but I found that info online from other people who had bought the unit. I left the unit on for about 4 hours at full power. There was definitely some smell but not as much as I remember the old unit 11 years ago. Neither of the heaters now makes any smell during use. I never had an oil leak with the old unit, and they are light enough that I can carry them around as long as they are room temp, instead of pulling them with the handle, with the wheels. I'm not sure if the new unit gives the same amount of heat when the MED switch is selected and I turn the thermostat to the same number as the old one, I think I have to set it to a slightly higher number. I rated it 3 stars for Safety Features because I actually don't know if it has any. I've never knocked one over while it was on so I don't know if it turns off.

I've had this heater for 2 winters now and it is the best space heater out there for a few reasons. First, it is *silent*. The clicks people mention are nearly imperceptible, on the rare occasions they are actually produced. I never notice them. If you put it on high, you might hear one when it's heating up. On low, probably not. I generally use this in the living room in front of the tv, so it's not like I need complete silence. But my old Lasko 751320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote Control required turning the tv up at least 10 clicks, the Delonghi doesn't require any modification to the tv volume.Secondly, and perhaps most importantly is the heat it puts out. I keep the house heated to 60 (that is pretty cold when it's 27 outside like it is right now), and kick this heater on to avoid paying the oil man. The electricity it consumes is way cheaper (another reason it rules), and the ComforTemp feature cycles the heater on and off to save electricity but maintain the heat. This means you won't miss having a remote, since it's rendered unnecessary. You can also opt to just use half the wattage by keeping the heater on low. I did blow a circuit once when I had the tv, PS3, modem, router, iron, computer charger, and the Delonghi heater at top volume all on one circuit. I blame the iron, since that was clearly the worst of the items on the circuit.Another reason I love this heater is that it is safer than its competitors. I don't leave it on all the time or anything, but when it's on and hot, it's not so hot to the touch that it's dangerous. My cats sit right next to this thing and I don't worry about them burning themselves. One of them jumped on top of it once (he is not smart) and almost knocked it over, but the wheels stopped it from toppling. I've put a throw blanket over the heater for 30 seconds to heat it up and never thought it would go up in flames. I would never do that with a fan heater. I did notice an odor the first time I used the heater, but it dissipated within a couple of hours and was not overpowering.My one complaint about the heater is that there is no timer on it. So you'll have to get one of those timers you put in the outlet if you want to use it in the bedroom as you fall asleep. If it had a built-in timer it would be perfect, but it's leaps and bounds better than other heaters I've owned even without the timer.

Use all winter to help save money. Own two of them. Really keeps me toasty when harsh cold snaps happen for several days at a time and central heat and heat pump can't keep up.

I have had this for 2yrs, just pulled it out to start winter#3. Here are my observations, etc.Pros:.Excellent job heating 12’x17’ room where more than 1/2 floor insulation was missing & questionable amt insulation in the 2 exterior walls this room had..It’s QUIET, or I should say lowercase quiet.It draws only 700 watts on the “Min” setting*.It has auto cycle to keep room at temp/cycles on/off as needed—once you figure out how to make it do so*.Can move it around easily, lightweight-*.RED Indicator lights show if it’s on—a good safety thing and no obnoxious ‘blue’ light that too many electronic things have that contribute to no sleep in dark room..Fins get hot but I have accidentally touched a few times while it was hot (high setting) & it did not burn/damage skin. Granted, I jerked my hand back as soon as brain registered “omg heat, danger will rogers” but it didn’t leave a burn mark like some other things have (can u say ironing? Lol!).It heats room slowly & gives real warmth in the entire space without being that super-dry, prickly-feeling heat that comes from blower-type space heaters. You know, the kind that makes your face/cheeks light up like Rudolph & feel windburned like you were out in 30mph winds on top of snow capped mountain—without appropriate protective attire. That’s only me & my sensitive skin you say? Oh. :D :D.It does what it says it does—and does it quite well.I would buy again!! —I like mine better though (all black/gray controls): the newer model has a white panel at bottom edge where cord goes & rest of unit is black. Why? To see the dust better? It’s odd lookingCons:*.It uses 700 on low setting only. BOTH Med and high use 1500 watts. Would have been nice to know before purchase—info kinda buried in user manual. That said, once room up to temp, using low setting kept room warm just fine.*.Setting unit so it will cycle on/off automatically once you get it to desired temp is not intuitive at all. Instructions on this feature were not well written either.*.Wheels on unit: almost a stretch to call them wheels. Hard plastic, don’t roll well and therefore scratch up wood floor. Rolling on carpet=pretty much impossible, so it’s good that it’s not too heavy to pick up to move. Buuuut, you gotta wait until it’s cooled off, obviously..There was foul odor first couple times it was used but there was adequate notification about this & instruction on ventilating until it dissipated. Not sure how it could be eliminated considering it is an “oil-filled” heater..THE.CORD.IS.TOO.SHORT. Let me say that again: The Cord Is Too Short!!!! So we’re Not supposed to have this within 3feet of anything but only 4foot cord on unit. Not supposed to use extension cord either. Hmmm, do all the mfg & eng folks have giant rooms with tons of outlets and NO furniture? Do they have outlets scattered about in the middle of the floor in their rooms? This is THE maddening thing about this product. Hey there manufacturers and engineers, please make cord lengths long enough for the way REAL people actually live. 11/5/17I want to leave an update. This week one of my cats became very ill and the weather here during nights has been cold. I had to separate my cat in a smaller room where he could be comfortable, rest and heal while I kept an eye on him. This little heater kept that small room comfortably warm for him on the min setting/ #2 all night and day.To some this may seem like not a big deal but for me it was very important to keep my cat warm and comfortable while his little body healed from the sickness he had. This little heater is still in that small room, because like I've mentioned before it is the laundry room and is on an outside wall that gets very cold in winter (the last thing I need is frozen pipes that break).I'm very happy to have bought this heater in time for colder weather and also happy that it has done such a great job in warming the area that it is kept in. During the nights with the wash room door closed the room was very warm and comfortable. On the nights and days of leaving the washing room door open the entire den attached was also kept mildly comfortable and warm (which is amazing because it is large with concrete floors and no carpeting, plus a skylight).I cannot recommend this heater enough. It is a great find and was quiet enough not to make noise that would scare my cat while he rested and healed (he is doing much better now and is healing).10/30/17Initially, I did not like this unit at all based on leaving it running overnight on high and not feeling warmth in a medium-sized room.What changed my opinion? I gave this heater a second chance and was amazed at just how much warmth actually does come out of it.My grandmother used to have a larger radiator heater of this brand and loved it. That heater would warm up the living room (a medium-sized room) perfectly in winter, so when I saw this one I knew it was a must for our home. Earlier this month the central heating/air conditioning unit went out and is unrepairable, which has left us in a 1250 sq ft (appx 70-year-old) home with no heater. My house was weatherized last year by the utility company & I have put up thermal curtains in all the rooms, laid down rolled up blankets against the bottom of doors leading outside and since my home has hardwood/cement floors I've added small area rugs in most of the rooms to help keep in the warmth.This is the first winter in 22 years that we have no central heat and I admit, at first thought, I panicked about how to keep this house warm during winter.I've done my research on zone heating & know that space heaters can/will & do raise the electric bill in winter (my gas bill with the central heating unit was always right under $200 a month during the cold months) so I am hoping to at least save a bit on heating this way, as there is no other option for us this winter.I have a small space heater in every room we spend our days or nights in and they do manage to keep the house warm when it is freezing outside (we have already had freezing temps this year).This little heater might be small, compact and quiet (no fan) but don't that fool you. The amount of heat that actually radiates from this heater is enough to literally warm to comfort a medium size room (if left on day and night during a cold spell).The very little noise I do hear from this heater is clicking or pinging when it is heating up and then there is silence.I have it set on the lowest temp during the day and then raise that up at night when it is the coldest (I do not use the green button for saving the heat setting to the room temperature). This heater stays on all day and night when it is severely cold in my washing room because of the room being so small & having a single pane window (not a regular storm window like the rest of the house). The washroom gets very cold (cement floors with linoleum) and I fear the pipes for the washing machine will bust with the severe cold air, plus that is where the cats' litter boxes are. My cats have warm butts when it is cold at least.What I thought is the radiator heater would warm up just the small washing room and not the den attached to it, which is the largest room in the house, but on high setting, this heater warms up both spaces nicely.I've attached pictures of the heater on the lowest setting #2, which goes up to 6 and has a min/max button plus the eco setting (the large round button that turns green when it is on). The warm air comes out of little vents on top of the unit and radiates from the middle & back of the unit. Use caution because once this heater is fully warm the back part (has no handle) and gets very warm (enough to burn someone & actually hurt). The rollers are attached and fold under the unit for storage. This is a lightweight heater and can be easily carried from one room to another, if not rolled. Since it is a radiator, there is no fan that kicks on and off throughout the night to keep you awake if you choose to keep it in a bedroom. And when you need to store the unit on the bottom front there is a place to wrap the cord back up so it is safely out of the way. One thing I always forget to mention is this has a 2 prong plugin, instead of a 3 so you don't need an adapter to plug into the wall. The electrician that came to look at the central heat unit said that space heaters are safe if you don't drape anything over or around them and do not plug them into anything but an outlet dedicated to that one heater (no smart outlets, power strips, surge protectors or the like) and always leave space around the heater so it can breathe properly.Just a couple tips for winter:Weatherize your home (sometimes the utility companies offer it for free to homeowners)Put down rolled up blankets or towels along the bottom of doorways to help seal out the drafts that can come in.Replace curtains & mini blinds with thermal backed curtains that not only help seal the warmth in but also keep out drafts and noise from outside. Make sure the thermal curtain hangs at least 2 extra feet below the window frame to help prevent drafts or cold air from coming in through a window (especially picture windows found in older homes).You can also roll up a towel and place it in between the door and screen door to help prevent drafts on a door not sealed or weatherized.If you zone heat, place space heaters in a corner of the room away from anything that can catch on fire if the heater gets too hot, but also in the direction of where you want the heat to go. That way the heat will circulate throughout the entire room instead of placing a space heater in the middle of a room where it will only push air from that point forward and leave cold air behind it.To avoid tripping the breaker box, use the lowest heat setting on a 1500 watt heater and space out the heaters on different circuits around the house (one in each room on a wall with no heavy appliances) and be sure to turn off the space heater if you plan to vacuum or run a device that takes a lot of energy. 70 degrees and below seems to work well in not tripping the breaker box in my home, as anything higher trips the box if I vacuum or use the hairdryer.Hopefully, these tips help and my review as well. I'm on a budget and thankfully Amazon has some great prices on items that are a must have.

I have to start off this review that the heater works GREAT came with FAST shipping and INSTANT setup.It was early December, there was a particularly nasty cold spell over my area, a week-long stretch of -5° C to -15° C (23 F° to 5F°) lows. I was living in a two bedroom Condo with lots of windows and excess heat from the building. Up until then, the heat hadn't been on since LAST winter so the gas line was shut off. Before December I thought we could make it through, tough out the cold but it was hovering around 15° C (60 F°) inside for large parts of the day.That's where the Delonghi came in. Obviously, this wasn't going to heat up the entire Condo but for my modest bedroom, it was PERFECT.The unit is simple enough with 6 temperature settings (1-6), three power settings (Min, Med, Max) and a Comfort Temp mode. I don't think the power/heat settings need much explaining but I'll talk about ComfortTemp later as it took me awhile to figure out. You can use it instantly after flipping the wheels down but I HIGHLY recommend TEMPERING the unit.--Tempering, simply enough has you crank it up to the highest heat/power and leave it running for at least 6hours outside. The manufacturer had a coating on the unit to prevent rust, and every time you heat it to the max there is a very distinct smell. You are letting this coating melt off so and will get rid of the funky odor.--Comfort Temp is a smart feature that has the unit save you power ($$$$) by automatically adjusting the heat of the unit to your desired temperature. First, you have to find the temperature you want your space. Set the heat to 3-4 and patiently wait for it to heat (these are not magic, be patient, it takes time). Once you're warm spin the dial down (counter-clockwise) until you hear a *CLICK* and no further. Voila, it's set and the unit will turn on/off to keep the room at around this temperature.I went from wearing three pairs of socks, thick PJ's and blankets to comfy shorts and a Tee. The unit works so well, in fact, I found myself turning it down on more than a few occasions!-----RECAP------This thing gets HOT. Not enough to burn you but accidentally walking into it you'll jump!-EASY&FAST setup.-Temper your machine. Otherwise, there'll be a smell.-ComfortTemp automatically adjusts heat to your desired temperature.-Use common sense, this won't heat up a very large space a bedroom is perfect.-Efficient. I had it running ~14hours a day for two weeks and saw a modest increase of maybe $25 on my bill (Ontario rates).

Excelente producto, su tamaño, capacidad y el calentamiento del que emana, es como lo que esperaba, cumple con las funciones de calentar un cuarto de 4x4 sin problemas, ademas de que cuenta con un cable lo suficientemente largo para conectarse, y sin tener que estar cuidando o quitando cosas, super funcional el botón economizador de energía, si no quieres calentar un cuarto grande, puedes comprar este mismo, pero con 4 aletas, este por ser un poco mas grande, puede con eso y mas.

Update June 2018: Bought 2 more, and one for the mother in law. It is that excellent. And my father bought 2 for his cabin after being around ours lolUPDATE May 2018:After using these 2 heaters ALLLL WINTER (24-7 in a cold rural Ontario house)I have to say we LOVE these!! Infact I just ordered another one lol! It’s a good constant heat, they are silent. We only turn both the Min and Max buttons on till it heats up well, then we just leave them with the Min button on, and the dial turned to number 2. I’ve never gone above 2! They make a 12x12 room a HOT after a night with the door closed lol!I think my electric bill went up maybe 20$- and TOTALLY worth that to have a warm comfy heat that didn’t dry our sinuses and throats out by morning as was the norm here previously.A good quality item we think. We were expecting a lightweight maybe crap quality but put our faith in reviews on amazon.com. It heats up quickly. rolls well - just fold the wheel down or you'll scratch your floor like us :-/ Compact and tidy looking. Overall a great value for the price and type of heater it is and honestly it heated up my daughters 12 x 12 room in about half an hour from 55F degrees when our furnace bit the dust. We put one in my one daughters room and one in the other bedroom, with my sons room inbetween them- and it kept his room warm too lol! Just tell the kids NO TOUCHIE! lol - They do border on hot to the touch when they get going- so common sense mom's and dad's. Don't put then up against walls and curtains etc.(And I prefer the NON digital models- I believe it leaves less to get broken or fried without digital parts. A bit old school but who cares)We are betting that these make a dent in our drafty house in our -35 winter- from their other reviews we think they should continue being effective.
