ForceMech Navigator XL - Great Power Chair!
Update 10/2018 - Many Flights with the Navigator and it's a joy to travel with. Fitting in normal trunks, the NAV travel well under all conditions from private to UBER Huge. The latter being ONLY unsuccess because the Yukon was jacked up. I have a small CURBSIDER that lifts chair into my SUV - perfect. Bolts and plastic covers are due for replacement and tightening. Also, the plastic covers etc need to be replaced. DO NOT wash seat cover on normal cycle - it will fall apart. Gentle cycle ok. Overall Awesome purchase and I would do it all over again!! The chair arrived 4 days early and I had it unpacked and working within 10 minutes w/o reading a single instruction in the user manual. The chair was well packed and shipped via FEDEX - quality delivery. The chair is sturdy and well-built. The rear-wheel solenoids are very responsive and, with the speed control, the chair adapts well to both indoor and outdoor use. The Li Fe battery is shockingly small and lightweight for the advertised range and I will be putting battery life and durability to the test so stay tuned for more endurance input. The seat cushion and back are "OK" - I wish the foam was a bit thicker on the back but the seat is reasonably comfortable and wide enough for my 250 Lbs. I will look at putting some memory foam in the seat and back cushion so extended periods in the chair are more comfortable. The chair folds and unfolds with ease and I'll be experimenting with how best to load and unload the chair in my SUV and rental cars. Overall marks are very high and I recommend the chair to anyone who needs a great chair that can travel. Loads of room, well constructed, easy to operate - this is a great power chair. I'll keep you posted on durability and endurance over the next few weeks.

Excellent engineering and sturdy construction with smart battery management
My wife was told to not weight bear on her foot for over 6 months - I knew that was going to be a challenge and so an electric wheelchair was a perfect solution with a knee-scooter kept in the car for most excursions. If an excursion from home was going to be any more than 100 ft. or so, the Navigator XL was easily put in the SUV instead. My dad was one of the founders of the largest wheelchair company on the planet (Invacare) and as I worked there as a kid I learned a thing or two about factories, quality, intelligent design, etc. Being an engineer myself helps! This chair blew me away from the initial packing material onward. Ultra easy to unpack (2 people make it far easier as the protective foam "sleeve" really holds the chair tightly. Assembly was as easy with very few steps. Overall appearance and design quality was superb - truly. I haven't found one item on chair that I would consider compromised for cost management. The best surprise was the battery management. I had pre-read the manual online before getting the chair and read that the batteries had to be swapped with one side providing the power and the other available to charge. Well, despite the manual saying this, the chair actually surprised us with its intelligence. For instance, plugging in the charging cord using the very durable XLR connector just under the joystick control is easy, can be done WITHOUT looking - purely by feel and rotating until the connector mates properly. The batteries charge without further interaction. A quick press of the blue battery level button on the front of each battery reports its status with a series of green LEDs. Both read FULL after a charge. No battery swapping required. Draining a battery is done sequentially (maybe charging is too, I didn't determine that), however as the level meter dropped steadily over the day if finally reached two amber bars above the red bar (vs several green bars, then a few ambers, then the red displayed when the battery is full). Then, we heard a beep (I think) and the battery showed a full battery!! What a pleasant surprise! So I guess they stick to one battery until it's almost dead, then switch to the backup battery automatically. This is so cool and why I call this "smart battery management". Because it just is... We've had the chair 2 weeks now and wife just loves it around our 4,000 sq ft first floor. (Now, if we can just get it to climb stairs! ). Can't recommend this more highly. Expensive? Wife was mad I spent so much, but after 2 weeks she has looked at me with thankful eyes. She knows this was a good way for her to remain compliant with the doc's orders. So to me, the peace of mind and care of her body was well worth the XL's cost. The little things this unit does that others don't do really adds up quickly to make the purchase justifiable. Bravo!

I finally put it through a torture test and it passed with good marks.
I've had this chair for about 10 months and finally gave it a good test. I don't use a wheelchair all of the time, but if I need to go over 100 feet or so several times or am going to someplace like a Walmart, I need a ride. Up until now, the largest place I went to was the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Museum in Oshkosh Wisconsin. It is big, but it has good floors and is fairly level. No problems there. Yesterday, I went to the House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Different story entirely. The House on the Rock was started back in the fifties or sixties and has been expanding ever since. It was not started out to be wheelchair accessible at all and it shows. There are about a million ramps where a step or two used to be. They are usually in the 10° or so variety and sometime tip quite a bit to the left or right. I weigh 320lbs or so, just so you know. Well, with this chair I was able to go almost anywhere. There are a few spots that are too narrow or have other issues, but if I had the width, I could make it. A lot of power. Easy to spin on a dime. Doesn't tip over too easy. A great way to get through a huge complex. One of my sisters who lives in Washington State and hikes a lot was winded by the time we finished it all after about 3 hours. The battery had been run down to about ¼ left, but it had been used a lot during the day. It folds and unfolds easily and I can manage to get it into and out of the trunk of my Subaru Sedan without too much trouble. If you have someone to take the other side, its 60lb weight is not an issue. Very pleased with the purchase.

Great Product and company but a bit heavy at 60 pounds.
A couple of weeks ago I ordered the Navigator XL motorized chair through Amazon on a Thursday evening, and to my great surprise it was delivered from Houston to MInnesota within six days. I had screened several other chairs prior to making the purchase, but after going over the specs I decided to go with the Navigator XL. Between the time I ordered the chair and its arrival I found that I had several additional questions which were fully answered with a quick phone call to the Forcemech support desk. Actually I called twice and both times the staff were great, and they told me to call anytime I needed assistance or if I ran into any difficulties. So rating the staff and support - my rating would be "A1". Now to the chair itself. This chair was purchased for my wife who has Dementia and whose mobility is sorely limited. I took it out of the box, opened it up and checked it over to see if all the stuff I needed was there. It was - so I put the controller head on the chair after which it was time to sit down and read the manual, which is pretty well written and easy to follow. Next I took it for a test run myself to see how well it handled and was very pleased with the results.- so it was time to get the wife the chair and into an easier way to get around. Within a very few hours in outdoor riding she was able to control the chair and do figure eights, turns and move in relatively tight spaces well. The second day out we went to a state park where she drove the chair about 2 miles handling all the issues which were encountered on the trails. She is still having a bit of a problem with her confidence level but I am certain that will disappear with use. My wife has physical therapy every week and today we took the chair with us for her session where I asked the therapist to work with her a bit on the eye-hand coordination with the controller. After the session the therapist came up to me and told me that this chair was a great find and will be very helpful. By the way, she even took a little spin in it herself to test out the mobility and she was impressed.with the ease of turning and control. Overall, I really like the chair and think that it will be a fantastic aid for my wife and she is getting used to it rapidly and will soon have it mastered. My only complaint is that it is a bit heavy at 60 pounds. I am in my late 70's and find that I can not lift it myself BUT I have devised a way to get into and out of my SUV which works quite well. If asked most people will be willing to help if you need it....where it may be heavy for one is not that bad for two. I like the chair. I am happy with the purchase. I feel that it is well worth the cost, and so far, the company has been GREAT! -- Charles D. M. Woodward

Fantastic Product!!!
Excellent product for people with special needs. My husband has Parkinson's disease of 25 years and we ordered this to assist him with mobility and for me as well. The fact that the chair is fairly light weight and collapsible is an ingenious idea. A wheelchair no longer serves his needs so the ForceMech is an excellent alternative. Because of the ForceMech we were able to take a road trip to the Grand Canyon. It fit perfectly in the back of our car. He was able to access most areas with ease in his ForceMech chair. One night in our hotel room for some reason the chair would not operate, only beep. After several attempts to fix it myself, at 10:30 pm I called the 24/7 customer service number and immediately spoke to a person. He walked me through some troubleshooting and we discovered one of the red brake clips in the back was put into the lock position. My husband must have done this unknowingly. The person on the phone walked me through how to put it back into position and it was fixed!!! I cannot tell you how much we LOVE the FORCEMECH and the CUSTOMER SERVICE to boot!!! I not only recommend this to people with special needs, but for family caregivers as well. It makes my job a whole lot easier not worrying about how I'm going to get him from place to place. We are recommending this to several of our family and friends! Thank you!!!

Freedom. Sturdy frame. Easy controls. Cushions aren’t great.
Let me start by saying I love this chair. I have Ehlers Danlos and POTS and between the two I can’t do anything that requires prolong standing or walking. This chair has given me my freedom back. The controls are easy to use and understand. The batteries can be charged two different way which is convenient. The wheels are nice and big and I’ve had no problems in grass, light gravel, tile, hardwood, carpet, vinyl, blacktop and a baseball field infield and outfield. The frame is very sturdy and well made. The cons are that the chair is heavy at around 60-65lbs. It folds up easily but the foot rest constantly falls down and there’s no way to lock it into a folded position. The folded position also makes it hard to pull. You have to bend over which makes your posture wrong and could hurt your back. We carry it in a van and it just fits through the side door with the seat stowed away. It doesn’t fit in the back without folding the back seat down because it has to lie flat or it bangs into the back window and tries to unfold. The thickness of the padding in the cushions is subpar and I can feel the edges of the straps through them. After a while it is uncomfortable. I will be adding more padding or making new cushions soon. With all that I would still buy it and I love it flaws and all. Oh and I do wish the manufacturer’s website was more informative. I’ve been trying to find out prices and how to get extra batteries and a cup holder. It would be nice to have contact info or questions answered here on Amazon.

Enjoy getting out with Navigator XL!!!!
ForceMech Navigator XL is the best electric wheelchair made!! We travel a lot and with my Navigator XL, who I named Bumblebee, makes the traveling so much more fun!! I can get around with ease everywhere we go instead of parking myself in the hotel. Moving through the airports is so much more pleasant than trying to get from one gate to the next on foot (not gonna happen) or waiting for a wheelchair. Whenever I have a need of help with my Bumblebee, I get personalized service with a wonderful person who does everything to help me. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a way to enjoy getting around again. My Bumblebee weighs only 60 lbs and folds up in a snap and can go on the plane or in a car with no problem. It supports up to 400 lbs and goes zippity quick at about 5 mph. It runs on 2 rechargeable lythium batteries that can go for 15 or 16 hours. When going on the airplane, drive it to the gate and remove the 2 lythium batteries and the joy stick to put in your carry on. It will be waiting for you at the gate when you get to the next airport. Wonderful way to travel!!

Nice
I’ve had this wheelchair for a few weeks now and I have taken it out all over. It’s nice the seat is comfortable however a little narrow for my liking and they will not give you seat extensions. I am 100 under the max capacity. The battery does last, I personally have not run the battery out it’s only been drained half way. It does move easily. I have noticed it’s making a clicking sound sometimes I do wish I could adjust the back rest more. I do like the chair I wish it came with a cup holder or a phone holder.
