It is an algaecide for pink algae. This actually helps the chlorine work better against pink algae. **Q: I have biogurad algicide in garage from last year. if it froze over winter is it still good?** A: All I know is that I leave mine out in the pool house, and it was 20 below several times, and I use it every year. I would simply call a pool supply house, they list them on google and ask....but I really believe it is fine. **Q: I cannot read the ingredients and % , can you help?** A: I would advise Copper Sulfate algicide. This is NOT Copper Sulfate, that kills aggressive Black Algae. **Q: Does it kill black algae?** A: I would not think so. Please google and read all that is said about black algae. You have to not only clean your pool but anything you use or wear in the pool that brought it in. You start with a triple shocking the pool and I would use shock from Doheny's because it is strong. You brush and brush and leave the filter going 24/7. This algaecide can be used for maintenance. I no longer use algaecide...I just shock it. I have an inground pool in Iowa which has a liner. It's about 18,000 gallons and I learned that it takes 5 times that recommended of shock when I close it....the small print says those pool closer kitsi you buy are for 3 months. I used 10 pounds of shock last winter, closed it for 9 months and it was clear when I opened it. I only used shock....no algaecide, etc. But read about black algae....it may take two triple doses with a week in-between and lots of brushing.That's one pound of shock for every 10,000t gallons of water. I called a pool company who called their rep who found a manufacturer who found a special algaecide just for it. It took me a month to find that after spending lots of dollars and was it gone in a week. As to this algaecide...it won't touch black algae.
