Q: Can it hold a 30 lb boat anchor?

The cleat could probably hold the weight if attached with maximum sized screws to a solid base. My concern is that it is made for a fairly small line size. For a 30 lb anchor I would consider a cleat that could take a larger anchor line, if for no other reason than ease of pulling the anchor. Smaller anchor lines are harder on hands. My application is for the 1/4 inch tail line on a drift sock, and this cleat works well. In this situation the load is much less than 30 lbs. I use a 35 lb anchor with a 27/64 double braid anchor line ,but this is for a drift boat.

Mounting holes are 2.09 in (5.3 cm). Actual length of the entire cleat is 2.87 in (7.3 cm).

Q: can this be used with 3/8" line?

Yes. That's what I use with my kayak.

Q: What size anchor line is this designed for? I'm assuming that the line just snaps in place.

5/32" - 5/16" (4-8 mm) The line jams in & pulls free.
