Pentek FloPlus-10 Carbon Block Filter Cartridge, 9-3/4" x 2-7/8", 0.5 Micron

Bought a new-to-us house about 4yrs ago and discovered that the house had no PRV or filter system, and I'm not a fan of unfiltered water at street pressure, so I put in a PRV with a single 4x20 filter housing. At first I put in a basic filter, 30 micron I think, and over 3yrs we didn't experience much pressure drop. I realized that it wasn't filtering anything, did some research, and ended up buying this filter (FloPlus-20BB). I love it. Flow is great even with two showers running and laundry, but it's only good for about 3 months with a family of 5. I show essentially no pressure drop for 2 months, but at the end of the third month it drops from 55 to 25psi when we're running wide open. My system has 3 gauges, street, pre-filter, post-filter, so I can tell pretty quick when I need a replacement. As others have stated, all chemical taste in our water is gone. In our case the filter is clogging long before the carbon stops working, so maybe a pre-filter is in my future at $75 per filter. Every time I need to buy a replacement I research them again, and I have yet to find anything cheaper that gives as good a result. Open to suggestions!

We have this on autoship we live in the country and have a whole water filtration system. It fits well good quality filter. It works great and our pressure increases right after we change it. Great value for money

We use this under the sink in a generic 10" housing, where it filters 100% of the cold water coming through the main kitchen faucet. Virtually no loss in water pressure, and now we can fill a glass of water or coffee pot quickly and easily at the sink. After reading a lot of spec sheets, this appeared to be the filter that would give us the best water quality with the least pressure drop. We've had no issues with clogging or loss of performance in about 5 weeks of heavy usage. Our city tap water has no major sediment, iron deposits, etc -- but they do treat the water with chlorine & chloramine, and this filter has been effective in removing the smell and taste from that. Update: In our household, these filters perform well for about 3 months before their chlorine/chloramine reduction performance starts to decline. At that point I can usually smell that the water is a little off. This is probably because I'm using them in a high-flow application (main kitchen faucet). Even at a 3 month replacement interval, I consider these filters to be a good value.

I run the house through a 1 micron filter. I put one of these in 6 months ago under my kitchen sink. I loved it. I found one for half the price. It tasted like carbon for 3 weeks after heavy use. I threw it out and bought another one of these. Well worth it.

It's fake! It's not a carbon filter, it has a thin carbon-sheet layer glued to a think foam inner layer. Don't waste your time or your money!
